This sentence is so great. :)
His parents have unintentionally shown great humour.
I've said this before, but the first time I saw his name I thought it was "Winner Anaconda", so now I can't get that excited about it.

I guess he'll just be a domestique for Vegard (one of them, depending on the stage profile!). It's time for the Vegards to show themselves so they can get pro contracts.

You're probably right, and of course Hoem is a couple of years younger than them too, he'll have time to further develop.

NAIRO QUINTANA winner of last year speaks!

Nairo Quintana: "I want to Tour title of the future to maintain"

Quintana Nairo boyacense rider, Team Colombia is Passion-472 is ready to compete in the Tour de l'Avenir, the competition reserved for children 23 years and which last year won the title in general.

Quintana travels on Thursday to French territory in the company of members of the Selection Committee Colombia will participate in the race to be held from September 4 to 11. Before leaving for Europe, Nair spoke to the press service of the Colombian Cycling Federation, about how you feel and what is its purpose in the race.

Colombian Cycling Federation: Welcome Nair, tell us how you feel today for the Tour of Avenir?

Nairo Quintana: Thank you, I greet the sponsors, Colombia is Passion-472. The truth that I felt good, I was a little sick in recent days, but I recovered and we deal with all of the Tour of Avenir.

CC: How did you prepare for this game?

NQ: The preparation is very strong, very intense, even though we had a few races, but we are already taking shape and hopefully we can respond to the Tour.

F.C: How to analyze the way?

NQ: A tour that truth is not much for us, because it only come from last year that had three top finishes. It helped us more, but a good tour, we have a good team.

FC: Do you feel the pressure this year by winning the title above or you're alone?

NQ: If you feel a little uncertain for how we're going to see the rivals take the number one in the back, but I am quiet and that's what matters.

FCC: Major accumulate one year experience in Europe

NQ: Of course we have many miles up in the legs, we know that in Europe, cycling is very difficult, the plan goes too fast, you need to meet. That's the key, plus you lose the nerve to walk there. Now we have two races before the Tour, which is important to come up with a good pace.

FCC: What is your opinion of the team that this year's Tour of Avenir connected?

NQ: It's a good team, I find interesting each of the three riders who came from other teams, Mikael Rodriguez to join us in the mountains, Alexis Valencia and William Camacho, they are good riders, very good role in the plan are located well on the party and I know they are very good camels.

FCC: Do you live this year after winning the title of the Tour of Avenir last year?

NQ: A little, I tried to calmly take all the title with humility, the most changes is that people will recognize a logic somewhere that it is difficult for me, which is more devoted to me but I feel calm.

FCC: What is your goal in the Tour of Avenir?

NQ: I want to retain Tour title, I am able. Such as cycling depends on many external factors, but hopefully they can take things, have to try.

Name aside, he's actually an interesting rider. He has followed the Uran route of going over to Italy and trying to rise up through the amateur ranks. He seems to pick up plenty of decent results, but I haven't heard of him being linked with any pro-conti teams.

I was made a fan of anacona after Giro Bio. Great climber. Him and Fabio Aru with his awakward style on the bike. The duel on the stage into campo imperatore was amazing.

Quintana Vs kelderman. If Pinot can compete he will go well. Bardet i think otherwise will surprise.

Bit early to start this thread maybe???

Looks like a nice thread though.

Has there been any indication that Pinot will go? I had a brief look earlier and couldn't find anything suggesting he will.

Kelderman has fallen twice in his last race. He didn't have an ideal preparation. And ofcourse the Dutch team selection is total BS. But what do you expect from Aart Vierhouten

Not bad either, but calling your child "Winner" just can't be beaten (if the child later takes up cycling, or any sport for that sake).

anacona is very good prospect and he did very well in itay this year
the road is too easy for quintana, just one MTF , no wat he can repeat last year.
cattaneo could be good pick, because he is very good in hilly courses ancd can defend on the stage with MTF.

I am curiuos about dombrowsky , who did very well in valle d' aosta , but he look more a climber.
may be boswell?

The mountaintop finish seems pretty hard and can well be decisive for the overall standing
So guys like Quintana and Dombrowsky should be able to ride a nice GC I guess?

I wonder how some of these youngsters (Lavieu, Dombrowsky and Cattaneo for instance) handle the combination Valle d'Aosta + Avenir. Could it be to much?

This is gonna be great although the parcours aren't really that great tbh. Looking forward to see a lot of the youngsters in action. Watch out for Preidler.

AUSTRALIE
AITKEN Nick
DENNIS Rohan
HEPBURN Michael
LANE Patrick
MC CARTHY Jay
PALMER Thomas

Remplaçants
CARVER Alex

LANG Richard

I'd have had Lang in the squad, not sure who is leader but I guess they are aiming for stage wins. McCarthy or Dennis probably.

there is one mountain though and I think it's pretty hard. he could beat number 2 by 1 or 2 minutes there like in the mountain itt last year. and we will have to see whether he will lose time on the hills as he is probably in very good shape and has a strong team that can help him in the flat. his team is better than last year I think. also last year he didn't start as the sole leader. now he is
