Looks like the first 4 stages will be tough.

I doubt Van Baarle could win the overall- but one of him, Howson, Svendsen :) or Hansen should win the prologue.
Denmark look the strongest but Australia (Phelan, Flakemore, Howson- who rode very well at Utah- for GC and Ewan for sprints). Herklotz and Chammoro I would also assume are favourites- but i don't know- correct me if wrong :)

I doubt Denmark will be a factor overall as the team doesn't have any great climbers. Its Herklotz for me.

Valgren
http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/rider_palm.asp?riderid=18123&year=2013&all=0&current=0

He's won the U23 LBL once and Espoirs once.

Maybe he has other characteristics- puncheur- but those results seemed quite good to me.

I was basing comment on Denmark's' strength on how Hansen did well at the Olympia tour, but that did not have so much climbing/ Cort from Tour of Denmark where he smashed 2 stages, but those were not climbs so you are right.

He's won the U23 LBL twice.

They are both talents for sure, but I think they will get dropped pretty quickly on more serious climbs.

wonder which of these colombians is going to win, evert rivera, chamorro or heiner parra. I go with rivera.

Italian selection is disappointing aswell. Formolo probably has to do it, but they could have had a much stronger team, guess most guys werent interested as they are already a stagiair somewhere.

Valgren is quite heavy, that's been his problem in the U23's. Hansen is a pure climber though.

And he's not an under 23. Rasmus Sterobo is a stage race cyclist and will ride for the general classification, Valgren, Cort and Haugaard can target stages, also the harder ones, and maybe the overall.
He's 22 years old. Is that too old?

And IIRC it is allowed to be a stagiaire and still participate in Avenir, no?

For Colombia it will be Chamorro and Parra for GC. Perhaps Ochao for the hilly stage.

Formolo also a big candidate, just as Herklotz.

chamorro I doubt it. he's not as good as parra and rivera.

Chamorro is the most talented, 2nd last year and winner of Tour de l'Isard this year. Last year he was 10th at the Tour de l'Ain.

Chamorro finished behind them in the Ain this year.
