Any news on Jacobsen? Hope he is out of coma and OK!
Letting patients with skull fractures and possible cerebral damage maybe too early out of coma is not the best thing to do.
The advantage of putting patients to a medical induced coma is to allow the brain to rest, also to give the rest of the body an opportunity to rest.
Bringing out of medical induced coma is very hard for the patient, even if he/she is still fully or partly unconsious.
I think thats why the neurologists decided to postpone to letting Jakobsen out of coma to today.
Edit:
Back in September 2013 Danish elite triathlete Camilla Pedersen crashed hard during training. She suffered a severe skull fracture, had critical internal bleedings, broken hip and other things, threatening her life. She was put in medical induced coma for 19 days, with doctors doubting the eventual outcome.
Camilla Pedersen did not only survive. After a hard rehabilitation program she came 'back in business' and even won a 70.3 event in Fuerteventura just 8 months after the crash and later the same year even won the world title on the long distance in August 2014, just under a year after her life treatening crash.
But at first hand I just hope Fabio Jakobsen will come back to life and be able to live a normal life. Not even talking about if he will be back to pro cycling. Think those discussions can wait.
