Usually they'll pull people off the road if they get lapped to prevent any drafting etc.. In most races they'll then be eliminated hors delais, but a race like the Danmark Rundt last year they kinda had to make an exception otherwise the rest of the race would have been hilarious, so they kind of neutralised the gruppetto so they couldn't leave their spot while they were being passed then gave them the green light to recommence racing.
They always do that in the Vejle stage. It also happened in Poland back when Sagan was riding GC. They don't toss riders for being lapped in a stage race.

There is no street view there... So Majka is probably the only one who might've actually seen the finish. Not like teams recon Tour de Pologne stages.
just read that Majka didn't do it himself, but Niemiec sent him a video of it. He is part of the team which works on the routes for Tour de Pologne, and did a recon of it last week.

Big wind hole day. Echelons possible.

So maybe less dull than anticipated!

no action in the wind in the end, looks like it'll be a normal sprint. The bridge with ~1.5k to go is pretty narrow, so you gotta be at the front early.

What was that FDJ guy doing? Applying for the vacancy of Olav Kooij leadout at Jumbo?

The big question is when will Kooij get to ride a GT - I can't see it happening at Jumbo.
You'd be wrong about that. He'll ride one next year (probably the Giro).

I think that tomorrow in the middle of the stage where there are 5 climbs with no flat parts in between, Uae will ride at a very high pace. I think first Formolo and Fisher Black and then Wellens who is in good shape. with the bad weather I expect a battlefield.

The FdJ rider leading out Kooij was Bram Welten, who said in an interview before the stage that he's angry at FdJ about how the whole Démare saga was handled. He's out of contract but he says he has a contract for next year, just can't say where. One and one makes two?

Oh, I had assumed that FDJ rider "leading out" Kooij was simply Penhoët, trying to spring himself, but getting overtaken, and eventually finishing 11th.

No, it wasn't. Welten probably tried to do the leadout for Penhoët, to give him the benefit of the doubt :)

What if Roglic does the Giro and the Vuelta again? Where is the space for Kooij. I guess Jumbo must be offering Kooij more money than other teams.

Going to be awkward on the team bus.

Roglic said "there's one that's missing" after the Giro, signaling a pretty clear intent he wants to race the Tour next year.

Saw one paywalled article Kuss may want to do the Giro next year, but he specifically wanted a free role, not a team around him, so that would go very well with Kooij.

I'd say FDJ guy had no idea what's going on and made pointless lead out for rival team's riders. He looked disoriented after they overtaken him.

Kuss even specifically said that he'd like to go to the Giro with Kooij and a sprint train, so the onus is off him and he can just do whatever he likes. Sounds like he's put some thought into it.

Not that Kooij needs a sprint train. Jumbo are not very good at the leadout business but Kooij tends to find his own way.

Yeah, Kuss has been low key riding for GC in both the Giro and Tour, with the exception he lost a huge load of time in some trivial Giro stage early. But he seems to want to do his work and then keep going till the finish now, which is just fair game IMO. It's how Yates got 3rd at the Tour. Maybe Kuss will wanna do some work on his ITT in the off season, and GC Kuss will be a meme no more.

Kooij not needing a full sprint train is pretty good as well. You can send a balanced squad to the Giro with some younger climbers that can go for stages on one hand and do some work for Kuss may he need it. Kooij himself is a decent flat engine that can get himself in the odd breakaway if breakaway formation is flat too.

The only hiccup for Kooij is he's raced nearly everything with Van Emden IIRC and he's retiring.
