Jayco is having a shocking year - They are unable to keep their best riders on the bike - Romandie and PN were the two key stage races they targetted in the spring. PN went well, and they will need luck at Romandie.

Now Sobrero will actually have to try to hand on on the hard MTF and ride for the gc. That said, he has never been great on longer climbs, hilly stage races with TTs are more reasonable gc targets for him.

If the MTF was on an easier climb I could see Ineos actually trying Hayter as a gc rider in one week stage races here. Between the bonus seconds on the hilly sprint stages and the TTs he'd have a decent advantage over many climbers.

Dainese was one of the few pure sprinters who actually did a decent prologue, but that might be DSM being DSM and forbidding him to take it easy.

DSM is ruining him. He isn't even a bad climber. If I was a team that could use a talented sprinter that isn't expensive I knew where to go.

The guy can finish top 3 in WT sprints against big boys and has a Giro stage win. They just refuse to ride for him on sprint stages...
If I'm Bora I'm signing him as a cheap replacement for Bennett.
The guy grew up in the Colli Eugani, so he probably rode almost nothing but short, often also steep hills as a kid. Everyone around Padova who rides his bike seems to ride on those volcanic hills during the weekend.

Hmm Bora definitely is going for a super sprinter. Kooij or Jakobsen.

But yes like I said. He's probably the only somewhat cheaper sprinter that's actually really fast. DSM says he's not the easiest character and he doesn't learn from his mistakes, but DSM thinks that about everyone so.

currently Dainese just doesn't seem to be in good shape, though. But sure, coming in as a late replacement for two races in a row probably won't change much about that.

Dainese would also be a great signing for one of the French teams.

On another note, anyone spotted Menten, Nys, Taminiaux, Venturini or Bonifazio in either group?

oh ffs I just saw Fausto pushing wind in the front of the peloton. Why is he doing that? You have literally cavagna, cerny, knox , Pederson and devenyns to pull, Vernon for sprints and Fausto for GC. its not hard. Either fausto has terrible shape and is humble, or her feels so good and can't help himself. He's a gracious guy

Menten is there. But was dropped, so probably drops again,
I think the others are there too. Cause I didn't see them in the 2nd group. Not sure about Taminiaux.

Taminiaux and Bonifazio were dropped fairly early, based on the pictures from the climb:

so I guess both are back in the gruppetto (one of the other Alpecin in that group is Sbaragli)

edit: Venturini is in front

Nys, Menten and Arndt spotted.

Vernon obviously also still there. Probably the one who could be closest to Hayter?

If they were thinking that Cerny was their gc guy everyone else must have horrible climbing legs...;)
