Steepest part of the climb is done tho. 2km at 5% now. Think fast guys will survive now or not loose to much and come back. Menten is at the back now but he'll have 4 teammates waiting for him probably.

Now Sobrero will actually have to try to hand on on the hard MTF and ride for the gc. That said, he has never been great on longer climbs, hilly stage races with TTs are more reasonable gc targets for him.

Jayco has other options for a decent GC result - Dunbar should be getting into form, while Harper is a good climber, however they are both average TTer's - We'll know more after stage three - Let Sobrero focus on the ITT.

Hayter grabs every opportunity he can get to ride in the back, so I wouldn't read too much into it yet.

In the pre-stage interview Cort said that he has no real expectations for today, but that may have changed of course. Or they just have a lot of belief in Quinn ;)

Has he ever shown to be super quick?
Not saying he's slower than Hayter, but I wouldn't say he's quicker either.

Vernon is definitely faster if he has not suffered on the climb - Cort would also be quicker and possibly Venturini.

I don't rate Venturini particularly high, tbh. Kamp could be up for a surprise, but probably not win.

Maybe Denz has a shot with a late attack, based on how strong he looked yesterday

Arndt is still there, as far as I could see, yeah.

There's also a bonus sprint coming up. Maybe we could see a similar development like in Algarve. Not too many sprint teams left to chase a potential strong move.

Do the intermediate sprints here give out bonus seconds? Little incentive to attack the sprint otherwise
I would think so, but the race regulations don't seem to be available online

edit: last year they only offered bonus seconds at the finish, so maybe not

edit 2: no bonus seconds at the intermediate sprint, as Montgomery just confirmed on SRF
