Surely Evenepoel has to be the favourite. I know how had a bad LBL but there are 2 ITTs and that is a lot of time he can put into the field. I suspect the race will be similar to Algarve, but with Evenepoel instead of Vingegaard. Almeida may win the MTF but Evenepoel will put enough time in the TT to take the GC win
What an odd comparison. Thyon 2000 is a monster climb that has nothing to do with the Algarve climbs, that are more uphills than anything else. The prologue is only 3.5km, it will hardly make a difference for GC. If both show up in good shape it’s one for Almeida and Remco to battle it out.

He only rode 1 prologue in his life. Tour de Romandie 2019. He finished 57th.
6 years, it's like having no reference.

But in a prologue, many time trial specialists don't have enough kilometers to reach their potential.

If Bisseger doesn't have one of his crashes, he's the favorite along with Oliveira. Track riders have an advantage in technical and short routes.

I don't expect Evenepoel to win, but he won't do badly. He's quite good in cornering on a TT bike

Maikel Zijlaard is a specialist in short prologues and won the prologue in this race last year.

Also, strong sprinters tend to do well in prologues so maybe Brennan could be a good pick.

Zijlaard is the clear favourite today, the only true specialist in the modern peloton. I also expect Brennan to do well.

Edit: always fun when someone posts the exact same thing 10 seconds before you :D
I agree that Zijlaard is the favourite, but he would probably have preferred a flatter course. The first hill is 500m at 5% or something like that, with a steeper section in the middle.

Brennan is a bit of an unknown, but he also holds the IP Junior World Record, so normally a short prologue should suit him.

Algarve had not a MTF from 20km 8% average...
