Brennan not as fast as the top sprinters on the flat, and the problem with the tour would that he would have to deal with VDP, De Lie and even top form Roglic/Pogacar on shorter uphill finishes if there are any, a far cry from APP and Artem Schmit (not looked at the parcours). Plus he's 19 and likely would be dead on his feet. Vuelta definitely as a first-GC.

Condition dependent De Lie is excellent in a difficult finish when he can be arsed, watch the Belgian champs last year against Philipsen, Merlier, Van Aert etc. His actual shape was cracked in last years Tour and should've won at least a stage, he simply rode like a complete tool. It will be dependent on whether he fixes his issues but I still have faith.

Visma should honestly think about taking Brennan to the Tour de France because arguably he's the best sprinter in the world right now. I'm sure Vinge can manage with 6 dedicated servants instead of 7. They can even put WvA on lead out duty in the sprints.

I'm not super convinced.

Brenan is very good at sprinting on some gradients, but not as good on flat as they are.
Besides, they've competed against each other.

I think Merlier is the best in flat sprint.

But we know that De Lie somehow suffered from riding too much in Spain, so Visma should think twice before they send Brennan to the Vuelta.

He‘s won a WT bunch sprint ahead of Tibor del Grosso and Pavel Bittner and now ahead of Aurélien Paret-Peintre and Artem Shmidt. I don‘t know what you even want to tell us with WT Level bunch sprints. There are a bunch of uphill sprints this Tour which would be in his favour but he‘s definitely not making the Tour team as the main sprinter for flat stages.

I think he has a lot. There aren't any great sprinters here.

In the Tour, he'd have a chance on the Mur de Bretagne stage, but on the flats against Merlier and Milan, he wouldn't be the favorite. In that type of sprint, I wouldn't say he'd be superior to Kooij either.

Girmay and old man Cavendish won a combined 4 sprint stages in last year's TdF.

Everyone is basically always looking for "the next big thing" in cycling and young super talents, so considering how Brennan has performed in Catalunya, Roubaix and now Romandie, he's looking super convincing as at least "spring 2025's best new thing".

It's not a bunch of old sprint names who've been in the sport for a while (with all their ups and downs) who categorically stand head and shoulders above Brennan IMO. He's doing this without lead outs as well, which is super impressive.

'Theoretical Arnaud De Lie' is one of the finest riders of all time in my view, perhaps surpassing even '2015 Landa sans Aru' and '2021 TDF Padun'.

2003 TDF second half Beloki still remains the greatest.

Tim, you ought to know that my team currently plays at a ground with the oldest stand in English football.

A much contested claim by a few clubs I believe, highly controversial stuff, but I'm going with Great Yarmouth?

Maybe Bramall Lane but I think that was formerly a cricket ground?

It's not even the sprint that merits the Sagan comparison the most, it's the way he effortlessly surfs wheels in the front 10 of the peloton no matter whether it's a sprint finish or Roubaix.

He's also got serious track-racer snap when he goes. This sprint was masterful as he passed someone else's leadout guy like he was standing still and no one could follow him!

I could see him using Mads Pederson as an unwilling leadout....his jump is phenomenal.
