I don't think so. They already did 12 stages before doing the MTT, and that first week was extremely intense. Now they did a prologue and today they ride 130km basically flat roads before climbing. They are much more fresh today.

Hope UAE sets a high pace though, and it's not just Pogacar that rides away and then a peloton of 10 riders. Lipowitz should be taking time here too if he can.
Question for me is if anyone really fancies going solo to chase 2nd and soloing 25 km to the finish. Most plausible seems it just splits into small groups all over and the groups work together in the finale.

in the podium battle itll be interesting to see if martinez can hang on to lipo . they are my favourites for the lower steps , as i think lipo will go full ham on all the main climbs

rogla can get second in a more tactical battle maybe , but it will be hard against lenny in sprints

plapp and vpp are not the most reliable , but i think they are strong podium outsiders

nordhagen and fortunato should both top10 here

RBH should go for it though. They have 2 leaders here that at least one of them should try it. There's nothing really to lose. It would be ridiculous if they are all just going to wait for the last stage before trying something.

they should, but it always results in Lipo doing stupid attacks on the flat anyway, and Roglic just looking confused.

I would think some kind of larger group coming back together for a sprint for 2nd is the most likely outcome today.

RBH will set the pace that suits them and on the climb they won't fall apart. If by any chance one covers a solo attack then it's forbidden to do a pull.
That's after UAE has set a pace and Pogacar attacked? And you won't let Lipowitz or Roglic attack at all today?

I’d be surprised if Martinez can hang with Lipo. Lipo is my clear second favourite given the parcours and the solid block of racing he’s had.

The peleton will be in shreds after tackling this wall, no organized team remaining. I suppose the best guys could be 1-1.5 minutes behind Pogacar on the top. Pogacar could let it go today and get ready for other stages but this climb looks like the best climbing test and Pog just can't help himself quite often.
I dont think he need that with Liege so close and better stages for it. He could try, it is in his genetic, but just in the case they allowed too much him, he will try it deeper.
I dont think he is going to try win the stage from far with all from as main idea for today. He could attack and just test how is everybody, and maybe try to attack at the end, to win a solo attack at the flat, as he was Remco or Ganna when he passed van Aert thois year in a classic, becouse I think he has never try to won like that (becouse he hadnt the oportunity or he didnt need)

I dont mijnd oif he attack and make teh descent and 25 flat km alone with one minute to the second. I enjoy that, I am not bored of that.

But I would prefer behind people get organiced a little, or make really hard attacsk from good people, and I didnt won becose behind happends as with Seixas at Aralar in the second stage of Basque country.
But even if he get a minute at the top the risk to be caught at the end if people organized is hight.

Pogacar has the advantage (of mortorbikes usually, but now I dont mean that, and is quite general in all cycling eras for explosive riders who are on the front) that in general the rest fight for second place. so if he attack people are not going to go for him, it is like he is not riding, except with Vingegaard, and sometimes Remco...but today there is no so easy to succed and some teams will want the stage, so it is not just a battle about GC.

I think Pog attacks. Lipo or Martinez might be the second best climbers. Perhaps they can also create a gap. If Lipo doesn't go solo he might not be allowed to pull if Rog is dropped on the climmbs like in Basque. So group dymanics and pure strength will make it easy for Pog on the flat part.

In his pre-race interview, Pogi made it quietly clear he is going to go for the win. Given how adroit he is at making a gap and then nursing it home with a minute's lead, that is what I expect today. But the likelihood of an organised chase from behind seems pretty minimal

There's no way you have teams after such a climb.
You could have a couple of team mates, but if the gap at the bottom is more than, say, 1.30, they will just fight for second.
One minutes and a half it depends how big is the group and how they collabotaes, or if they have Daniel felipe Martinez and a rider from Ineos (I dont count Onley and Carlos Rodriguez) tpo give the main work and the rest collaborate a little. But just with 2 riders working I think That Pohgacar cant get the victory without give it all, if he chose that way for today.
Anyway we will see, everythink could happend

No faith at all you lot, in 90 minutes time we could be calling for Pocagar's coach to be sacked, saying he's put on too much weight, too fat for the climbs after Yannis Voisard passes him in disgrace, pronouncing the tour as 'over'. Or if you're a fan of Remco Evenepoel, 'Back on'.
