Contador is famous for being in top shape whenever he wants and doesn't want even without racing practice, I think.

Airstream is obviously being facetious ( a generous way of saying that he is trolling).

When we last debated this topic Contador had fail tts like this in his palmares

http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/race.asp?raceid=17899

http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/race.asp?raceid=19839

so even airstream must realise that a 6th place is not going to change the equation. If I argue that Contador is better after he comes 35th in the Tour tt Ill probably argue that he is better when he comes 6th. in a January tt.

Also had he been reading my posts he would have noticed that I predicted that Contador wouldnt do well in this tt.

Contador could not put any time into leipheimer on the hill. hes noy on the form on which he excells at tts. look at algarve last year. 3rd on the hill, nowhere in the tt.

Edit so is cineteq. Thats trol.., err I mean being facetious.

lol @people making a big deal about Leipheimer beating Contador today.

Hello... 4 others did that too. Including Chavanel and Nazaret... with all due respect.

Excellent point. Back to reality people.

I think quite a handful say that levi will win it.

Yeah good point.

This reminds me of Levis epic Suisse victory.

So we hear from some of the Contador fans that Alberto is in awful shape yet many other times we hear he has great base form? Please explain...

I'm going with what he said to the media. His win on stage 3 was a surprise and he didn't plan on doing well here considering the amount of training that he's put in prior to the event. The win was an unexpected bonus.

Isn't it a bit early in the year to be using a result like this as motivation for opening this topic of discussion?

usually it goes like this:

contador uses peak

*critical hit* *its super effective* *the field has been defeated*

today was more like this

contador uses peak

*its not very effective*

bottle uses early shape

*its super effective*

My computer handicap dissallows me from replying to multiple posts at once.;)

Airstream has enough dealing with all the others that have already torn into him before my typically late arrival.:)

Yep, I can never remember my password from work and they're under different email addresses. Hopefully the admins won't ban me for this transgression as long as I behave.:)

Wow, just came in. I thought Alberto would fight for it. One minute is an *** kicking at 20ks. Maybe he speaks the truth about his form.

I would think Levi has trained even LESS than Alberto.
Heck, Levi is on a new team - new bike, new team mates, etcetc.
Barely has been riding.

"But Levi is always strong early in the year".
Thats true. But the ToC hasn't been in January for years now.
Maybe Levi holds his fitness through the off season better?

I've heard he's notorious for his work habits. Stays at a high level year round.
Still his lap dog like affection for Armstrong during the "The Return" was nauseating to the extreme so I can't root for the dude. Good performance nonetheless.

I also heard he can transform people into midgets with a finger snap.

So that's why Armstrong was having so many issues with his bike handling. Proper bike fit is very important.;)
