There was a crash just before the climb Sepulveda was involved (with 3 teammates) and some other riders as well, have no idea who though but that could explain the time loss of some of the other (semi) favourites.

He has been hyped the two last seasons to top-10, even top-5 in the Tour which he hasnt even come close to both times. I know there are other races, but its the big one and its there where Talansky and all the other big guns aim to peak. I havent said it in here, but I have ALWAYS opposed that Talansky was a legit GC rider for the Tour and I think Garmin has done that as well by now. To me, he just doesnt seem to have that elite level to climb with the best, or even second best, when everyone is at 100%. He is a good rider in one week stage races, that I agree with, but I have always seen Dan Martin with the much higher ceiling GC-wise despite him crashing at every second race.
Maybe Im a little harsh on Talansky, but thats just how I feel.

That's where you really lost me. If there's one guy who can climb but will never, ever be top 5 Tour material it's Dan Martin.

Dan Martin definitely isnt top-5 potential, but neither is Andrew Talansky. Dan Martin can at least hold a candle to some of the best climbers in GT's, fx. in the 2014 Vuelta. Talansky can hope somehow to sneak into the top-10 or thereabouts through a break or two like he did in 2013 and 2015.

Perhaps that's also the reason Acevedo lost time.

For the rest of the world we have Nibali, Talansky, Dani Diaz,Vuillermoz, Majka.

Dani Moreno, I reckon.

Edit: With regards to the rest of the world.

Ooops. I missed him. Maybe because he would work for Quintana. But he will be up there with them.

Dan Martin will never top 5 because he's the unluckiest cyclist in the world. Also because he's not good enough, but the luck plays a part too.

As for Talansky, I'm still unsure. I reckon he could top 5 David Arroyo-style.

You people forget Oscar Pereiro won a Tour de France less than a decade ago.

Any info on today's stage anywhere? The live youtube broadcast repeats today's stage on the map over and over and over again...

Usually only get the last 60 mins if that, it seems. Whenever the broadcasters have finished their siesta....

***, rider who in previous years finished 7th in Vuelta, 10th and 11th in the Tour is hyped for Top 10 in the Tour, what an injustice!

I'm quite sure Talansky can top5 TdF if he is 100% and opposition is as weak as in 2014. He had disrupted preparation in both 2013 (ilness just before Dauphine) and 2015 (Pais Vasco crash, then ilness at California), yet he finished 10th and 11th respectively. And in 2013 he looked more like 6-7th than 10th best climber in the last week. Shame he crashed in 2014, because stages 2 and 5 gave a strong indication he was prepared better than in 2013 or 2015.

I also think his tendency for crashes is overestimated. Before TdF 2014 I recall him crashing only once in WT race during 3,5 years as a pro.

It's just bad timing of everything that happened to him in last 2-3 years that influences his perception by some people IMO.

He wasn't the 6th or 7th best climber in 2013... he only got top 10 cause he got 10 mins from a break in a flat stage to Lyon.

Yes, but he probably was the 6th or 7th strongest riders in the 3rd week.

That's right. If you count last 6 stages, his GC time would be better than Fuglsang's or Mollema's. He even beat Contador on final mountain stage.
