But plenty of other teams will work hard to dry to drop Cav, so Sagan is still a big favourite for the Olympics even without a team IMO. Also, won't he have the Velits' there..?

How much cyclists may a small nation like Slovenia field?

Well, in the first place, Sagan is Slovak, not Slovenian. This is common problem with american people that cannot differ between our countries.

And unfortunately, we can have only 1 cyclist there. Which is very nice, when some african countries with no name cyclist will have 3 of them, who very possibly will not even finish the race. IMO, the rules are very badly formed, that there is combination of ranking in world tour for some number of cyclist, and there is also som cyclist for points in continental ranking, which is pretty easy to earn in Africa e.g.. Same with world championchips. It's good that UCI tries to nominate as many countries as possible, as that is motto of olympics, however to allow country with 3rd or 4th class cyclist have 3 of them at olympics, and country with on world start and 2 other very decent cyclist to have only one is in my opinion ridiculous. Slovakia, e.g. had 3 cyclist at olympics in beijing although there were any in the world pro tour in the qualify year. Only the next year, the year of olympics came Velits brothers to pro tour. To qualify, they had earnt the needed points in continental tour for some south african continental team. And even funnier, they did not take part in the olympics, even Peter Velits has had pretty nice results at TDF that year, because stupid slovak cycling union had nominated others and thay said, that Velits would have be tired anyway, so they nominated nearly retired or overburnt cyclist from the past.

Anyone have a profile of the final Ks. It's uphill. There are some steep digs here sometimes.

it's just slightly uphill, ~1-2%

but there are two or three short steep hills on the finish circuit

Hey Panda Pops, bet you wish you'd never asked that innocent question now? ;) :D
Well now that we have established how many cyclists Slovakia will have at the Olympics, can we also find out how many Slovenia will have there? May as well , no?

It's already been said, thay were 15th at the end of year 2011 in pro tour contries ranking, i think, and that was the last position which guaranteed 3 spots at olympics. Slovakia was 17th, Ireland I guess was 16th, so for these two and all others that had cyclists with at least one point in pro tour ranking go with 1 cyclist, and here the continental rankings come to word to make it silly stupid

Slovakia vs. Slovenia

He actually comes from a country most Americans haven't heard of. ;)

I believe they did - especially during TOC :). But now they are confused as the best player of LA Kings is from Slovenia - new ice hockey country :). And now all of you are confused ... by our small countries with 2 and 5 mil. citizens.

Slovakia not Slovenia

Brajkovic is the the Slovenian of note. I'll wager some Euros might not even know it, but I suppose your right about Americans, half would think I am from Mexico.

Interesting region, Slovienia, of the former Yugoslavia and the Habsburg Empire before that. Interesting geopraphy as well with Italy to the West, Hungary northeast, Croatia south, southeast and Austia to the north. At the crossroads.

Sorry we were talking about Sagan from Slovakia in the former Czechoslovakia.

Slovenia gets 3 but Sagan is from Slovakia and they only get 1.

It's a pity. the Velits brothers would have made nice domestiques. But why on earth does Slovenia have 3?

well those years are past us, fortunately for me, unfortunately for those who are bored with sagan winning, unless cancellara TT whole stage he will not get rid of sagan in the of the stage in 3rd category climb, an there is !!!-100% !!! possibility that he would do him in the finishing unrated climb

I find this standard fomula racing very boring. Love the broken field, shatter groups coming in...

Some weaker regions are overrepresented compared to their strength at events like the Worlds or the Olympics to make the event truly "global".

The World Cup is the same way - there are always European and South American sides left out who are considerably better than some (not all) of the entrants from the rest of the world. It's unfair but it serves a purpose.

Personally, I'd give every country in the cycling Worlds four riders.

The peloton is in mourning for Andy's tour and are therefore riding at funeral pace, today. Almost 10 minutes back with 60kms of live.....er.... "action".

This break will stick.

Cool Oss is in the break so Liquigas don't need to pull for Sagan

in spite of being slovak, i think oss deserves this win for the effort he made by helping sagan win so many times
