But here's a picture looking at the Furkapass from somewhere on the Grimselpass. So you can see today's descent from the Furka and the climb up the Grimsel.

and here's a picture of the ascent of the Grimselpass taken somewhere from the descent of the Furkapass. So this is the view the riders will have today descending the Furka.

Below in the colour picture is the summer 'village' Gletsch, which was built in the 19th century as a health center for mainly British wealthy tourists. It was named because the Rhone glacier extended up to the village. Now you cannot even see the glacier (left in picture) from Gletsch any more because of the warming.
