People might have forgotten that we have another World Tour race coming up. Sure, the startlist isn't as impressive as the Dauphiné, but we still get to see how the form is of some serious Tour de France contenders. This is also the first year with Flanders Classics on the board of the race, although I wouldn't expect too many changes. It starts with a prologue and ends with an Mountain ITT. The route is quite selective so the wheat will be separated from the chaff.

3 MTFs and 2 HTFs at Dauphiné, 5 MTFs (including the MTT) here, and none of them designed (or at least not primarily) for attacks before the MTF. Somewhere, Javier Guillen is smiling.

Also a very bad call not to flip the final two stages, given that they start and end in the same area anyway.

RIP Gino Mader, soon it will be one year since his tragic death in Tour de Suisse.

This is a very hard route, suited for pure climbers, but the stage design will make it difficult to do long range attacks.

I see potential for some drama within UAE between Almeida and Del Toro which would ignite their 'enthusiastic' fanbases.

Is it official if he’s racing or not? I thought there was an announcement by his team.

Gall said so himself last week. He was on altitude, then took 10 days off at home, and next race will be the Tour de Suisse. Same plan which worked out perfectly last year.

Came back from altitude, right now he's at home and tapering his training volume, so he's supposed to ride TdS, then another short altitude block before the Tour.

Depends on what kind of form the guys who have been off the bike are in. Mas looks like a solid pick, but he never is able to finish the job.

Mas is destined to ride the Tour/Vuelta for a while so I am rather doubtful that he will be in the Tour de Suisse winning form.

I'm curious how the non stop mountain stages will be raced, but I honestly find the route a little sh*t. The mountain stages really aren't designed well and the MTT on stage 8 seems like a horrible idea.

Oh well, if Gall wins I'll call it the best race design in cycling history.

Kinda pissed that I didn't take this week off at work. If I did I could be meeting Gall on my training rides.

I'll never, ever, EVER call a route *** when you have exactly 0 sprint stages during 8 days of racing.

Magnificent route! Perfect! God bless Switzerland

Well put!
Lots of rumours about Marc Hirschi transfer, will be curious to see UAE pecking order and what they will allow riders to do, I am wondering if they try for stage results immediately because of probable tiny separation from TT which is sort of useless. At that distance Del Toro or someone else can have a good ride and be the micro leader..
