How could Van Poppel "give the opportunity" to Pithie, or anyone? It was a 3.6 km prologue; they probably just both went as fast as they could, with Pithie being faster.
BTW, this is very weirdly phrased (from PCS):

Trek has aerodynamic bottles and they say that their bike is faster with them as it was created as a whole thing and the bike is more aerodynamic with bottles on.

I don't think so. The forecast has worsened since earlier this week. I don't know how riders who have come down from the European winter cope with that kind of brutal heat.
