Maybe Robbie Hunter was onto something when he complained that he worked hard and some other teams literally pushed their top sprinters up the hill.

Baden Cooke just weighed in:

@badencooke

It just censored a word that starts with p and ends with oofs
Seems like a fair complaint. Any word on who the "****s" were?

What total hypocritical BS. A few years ago at the Australian National champs a few of us (including Cookie) got stuck in a large pile up. While we were chasing back Baden spend the entire hill section every lap hanging on to various cars until he eventually just got a tow up to the next group. He then pulled out.

From my impression using cars to reconnect after a crash or a defects is widely accepted in cycling. Hardly the same as being pushed up a hill by team mates.

There was more than 50 people in the crash and another 50 behind it. He was the only guy using the car. And he wasnt sitting behind the cars he was holding on to them up the hills at more than 50 kms per hour..

And no I didnt finish, not even close.

A very entertaining thread, guys. Hardly a mention of The Ancient One. Well done!
Oh and the race wasn't bad either, by all accounts.
Well done my man in the picture.
Wonderlance? Too funny by half and a lot smarter than folks think.

If by that you mean celebrating AC's 3rd Tour de France victory, yeah that will be a bit of fun. Especially if he does it dominating fashion.

Hopefully Cuddles doesn't get an invite to the Tour and focuses on the Giro. I actually think he has a chance of winning (not really, but I thought I should say something nice about him since he's tried really, really hard today).

Does anyone have a gold star for Cuddles?

**You know I'm just giving you a hard time**

I'm glad to read that Evans gave it a go today. I think the stripes have give him a world of confidence. Now if there were just 3 or 4 less Spanish riders in the peloton... ;)

... the average haematocrit of the peloton would drop significantly

Ok, physically hanging on is different clearly. That does seem fairly hypocritical. I still think it's a fair complaint that other riders got pushed, but perhaps he shouldn't be the one throwing rocks.

I really don't follow that many riders on twitter, but here's another one weighing in on the pushing up hills.

I'd love to see a showdown between Cadel & Valverde..... but I guess it's too much to ask for....

Who wants to see a showdown between a cheat who will surely be banned this spring, and a no body with one win to his name (read perpetual second place). both are such losers.

World Champion --> Loser. Not sure if I follow that logic

AC does not need to fear Cadel. :p

No one needs to fear Cadel. Well, maybe the team managers who have to pay him when they explain to the sponsors why the pay for someone who will never win crap. yah, yah, yah! he won worlds, once. Stars aligned soem how. I really don't hate him, just that people always make an issue that he is a threat at the tour. Please, no more than Levi is, and i like Levi. they are both not cut out to lead or compete with the big boys.

Stage 5 Cadel Interview

Why doesn't Cadel take PR lessons ? I watched the interview when first shown on SBS1 then again on the 6pm repeat. His comments show no respect to the fans or the people he was in the break with. I noticed the second time round that he looked to his right as Sanchez went through on the left - duh !

I know, he did pull his one day fluke. One day. One time. And, the whole peloton is scratching their heads and saying how does a loser win? Answer? No one ever really takes him as a serious threat so he pulled a surprise because he wasn't chased, because he is perpetually second place, second tier, no one honestly thought he would ever pull off a real win. He was let go a little too much. You have to ask yourself why? Becasue no one worries about the second rate riders. Even the losers get lucky sometime.

You think i'm lying? Auscyclefan on it's own was taken...

Their are some really spiteful, uncalled for comments on here against evans. You don't have to like him but pay some respect to a champion bike racer in the sport!

Of cause not, that would be silly. You should be dim363.24, years dividable by 100 aren't leap years.

Now who wants to out-anal me by pointing out that I failed to calculate the re-occurrence of leap years on years dividable by 400?

This is just to point out that your math doesn't make any sense, because what dim is probably trying to say is that he was born at 6 AM.

Name some?
A lot of people think he's a major whiner and they have good reasons for that.
I think that if you wouldn't be so overly fanboy about Cadel in nearly every comment you make the 'haters' have very little reason to keep bringing up their dislike of Evans.

you can see for yourself of what comments are uncalled for.
Fair enough. point taken.:)
just feel a little more respect could be shown. i only brought it up because it was in a stage which he was apparent in. don't like some riders as well but respect them as great racers and champions of the sport.
