There is the possibility that Stage 1 may be cancelled due to bush fires :
This news even made the regular radio news in Holland. Probably the only time this race will, unless a Dutchie wins the overall again ;)

Fires, floods etc always make the news. Not sure if it had much to do with the race itself.

The actual news was that the first stage of the TDU was possibly threatened by bush fire.

He was good on the hills during his Jayco time

Isn't he more of a rouleur? He didn't have a great first season, let's ser how he rides now.

Ulissi finished his season almost in November. For his own good, I hope his form won't be to sharp at this point. I even find a bit strange that he's starting the season so early.

That's what i though @roundabout.

Lampre went badly last year so they should try improve, he could ride for Valls as well.

a pity as stage 1 sounded interesting i dont hold out much hope these fires are so hard to control, melbourne got some rain which helped but not sure it hit adelaide.

Gotta setup a massive amount of diesel driven air dryers to get rid of the smoke along the road.

Anyway Ewan to take the pre-TDU crit race:

20 laps and we have a winner.

Stage 1 might be safe. News report this morning says the fire threat is abating in Adelaide. But of course with the wind changes it's a day to day decision.

I quite agree with this article, only 2 riders in the team (O'Brien and Ewan) i feel rode well this summer. Haig deserves it because of his NRS win last year and Flakemore is a very interesting rider. De Ploeg could improve a lot with this race (he also focuses on other events than road cycling) but Giacoppo is not that great recently/ has already had chances here and Lindfield (i don't know enough about).

What is also bad is that Ewan will not have rode with the others so much and in my view will be screwed by having a leadout, that he has had little practice with. But there is some firepower there for both the hills and sprints so hopefully they can go well.

I would have liked to see Gillet and Carpenter in this squad :(

Who missed out..? Dempster, but Pro Conti riders are usually overlooked.

The new circuit is much more free-flowing and faster than the original pre-race circuit. I am not creating a thread for this race because I do not think it is necessary.

Yeah, the coverage starts in an hour. There will be a feed so I am told and I think it is not geo-blocked :)
That would be nice. Is it possible to post the feed when it begins? ;)

Nice.

Would be nice if someone could post the link to the stream then when it's available.
