Yeah very surprising to see him coming just behind a talent such as Jungels. They should be about the same age and it's their first year at a decent level.Parrulo said:very nice result from gonçalves![]()

Parrulo said:nah jungels is over 3 years younger (only 19) but it still is a very good result as gonçalves has been riding in portugal with very limited support and racing until this year while jungels has been competition at pretty much professional level (support, training and scedule wise) for a couple years now.
either way i wonder what kind of rider he will become, he did a fairly good volta last year . . . i will follow his year very closely as i think he will deliver some nice results on some smaller races
Yeah races with a decent amount of TT and not much hills like Limousin (sometimes), Poitou-Charentes or Sarthe.Parrulo said:nah jungels is over 3 years younger (only 19) but it still is a very good result as gonçalves has been riding in portugal with very limited support and racing until this year while jungels has been competition at pretty much professional level (support, training and scedule wise) for a couple years now.

That's only 11 seconds behind Thomas Dekker![]()
Maaaaaaaarten said:Isn't Jungels from '92? That ought to make him 20, and he'll become 21 this year. Still a grat result for a 20 year old, obviously.
I think Danny van Poppel is the only teenager with a WT contract this season.
Ruudz0r said:Technically Niccolo Bonifazio is another 1, he turns pro in august with Lampre he still is 19 then, and already has the contract now.
Maaaaaaaarten said:So, did he do anything nice to get himself a WT contract at that age? I mean, Van Poppel had a decent espoirs season in his first year and his daddy works for Vacansoleil, but cq ain't got nothing on Bonifazio.
Ruudz0r said:Yes he did, he won 7 races last year in Italy as a first year in the U23 rank. Which is really a lot. In comparison in 2011 Simion + Gasparrini did best with both 2 victories. In 2010 Paoli + Dall Oste did best with 2 wins, in 2009 Zhupa + Ruffoni did best with 3 wins (although Felline was the best that year from the 1st years). In 2008 Ulissi did best with 4 wins, (although Viviani + Ratto + Guardini got more points).
So 7 wins is really a lot as a first year in Italy's U23 scene. Came as a suprise to me as his 2nd junior year wasnt that special (it was good but the 7 wins were unexpected).
