A big difference between Gesing & van der Broeck (especially this year), is that Gesing is really methodical, and serious about his goals (TdF).

You mean a big difference between the Gesink of this year and the Gesink of last year? If there is one thing you can't accuse Van Den Broeck of, it's of not being extremely focussed for the tour and not being extremely dedicated to his goals.

“Today’s profile is the flattest of this year’s race and that will probably result in a victory for one of the contenders for the green jersey. Of course, the terrain decides the nature of the route, and in order to get to the Pyrenees from Normandy we have to cross an area where there are no real difficulties. Because of the nature of the stages that have been completed so far, the yellow jersey will not be on the shoulders of one of the race’s favourites, but it will still be in the possession of a strong team because one of those stages will have been the team time trial. It might perhaps be a Rabobank rider that has it, like Gesink, or an HTC rider, like Martin. But if they are truly determined on contending for the overall title they will no doubt want to pass it on to someone else as quickly as possible. But if someone like Gilbert has it, his Omega Pharma-Lotto team will do all they can to hang to it.” - Prudhomme

Let the trolling begin :D

Sorry, found this to be funny. It's Prudhomme's opinion about stage 7.
Uhm... what I understand from this quote is that Prudhomme considers Lotto to have no contender for the overall, and thus should fight to keep the jersey on Gilbert's shoulders. Rabo and HTC, who do have overall contenders, should pass on the jersey ASAP, to conserve energy.

In fact, I have no idea why you posted this... to weaken your argument, perhaps?

Relax, it's just a joke. Once again the Dutchies prove they can't stand anything when it's about Gesink.

And yes, Gilbert is the leader for the OLO team. And he would also be the leader if he were on Rabobank. Not that that is ever going to happen. OLO's team is build to help Gilbert and Greipel. VDB2 is someone who doesn't need a lot of help(and the team will not have to do any work in the mountains), so they can work to keep the jersey in the first week.

While Rabo is build solely around Gesink. Prudhomme knows that.

No, I just thought it was funny that you should use this quote, which says basically the opposite of what you think it says :)

Not everyone loses any sense of perspective whatsoever when it's about their heroes Gilbert and Contador.

The only reason why the name Gesink came up was because they have a strong TTT team. Unless you think Cavendish is going to win le Tour. Smarty pants.

Not even close. There are way more Dutch posters than Belgian ones on here.

How do you know this for sure, if you don't mind me asking. ''Not even close'' might be stretching it, no? I think Dutch posters are just more outspoken. Might be wrong though.

Edit: You edited your post, so now mine doesn't make sense anymore since it includes most of the things in yours. Thanks for the info though. :p

Only I don't find excuses when someone I'm a fan of loses a race :p

Besides, it's not directed at you personally, but I've read a lot of excuses here for Gesink over the course of the season. Don't take it so personal.

Ok. I couldn't derive that when you direct your comment to ''You guys''. My bad. :D

You're right.

Scrap that you guys part then :p

Well, I haven't seen you make any excuses yet at least :p

But Dekker calling Jurgen a horrid tt specialist a few times during yesterday's stage was quite funny. And the excuse that he was riding in good conditions and VDB wasn't was also a gem. Even though the cameras and road were totally wet when VDB was riding

By the way, those polkadots make VDB2 look fat.

I hope I can keep it up or I know you'll be ready to pounce :p

I thought he did well tbh. Jrod is a horrid TT'er. He (VDB2) has gotten better again this year, which is quite promising for the tour. Seeing Gesink at the Dauphine does make me more worried about him than VDB2. He exudes confidence and control. Can't wait for the tour to see what it brings. I want to see every rider in top form duking it out.

He was to test himself in the TT no ? pretty disappointing test imo

I don't know what you read but in the press they kept saying he is looking forward to the weekend stages.

And before the TT they were mysterious. Either in this thread or the TT thread theyoungest posted the quote from Van Houwelingen. "We want him to get to know the TT in a relaxed state, and full, but not with a classification in mind, but with the tour in mind".
So still a mystery what they meant by that. Tbh I don't care.

I'm certain his Tour ITT will be good.
