china has a place in cycling just not the way its doing it currently, ironic enough that orica have had a few environmental issues and are using cycling to clean up their image.

No betting so il have limited interest looking forward to the mtf finish thou.

I'm sure if the roadside spectators saw a rider in a race wearing the smog mask, they would think it a good idea and advantageous.

Thankfully the pollution level seems to be much lower today. It's now at the "good" part of the graph so there seems to be no immediate health risk for the cyclists.

Erik Dekker: "The Chinese arranged it. Rain at night and a strong wind now. Result: no smog at all!"

A fitting end of to the season.
Bookends.
Today's opener is like the Cancer Council Classic, but without the crowds.

117km total distance - not sure how many laps that is.

It's now about 50min till the earliest expected finish time.

8km laps and 3 laps left to go.

Last corner before the finishing straight.
It's what passes for a large crowd along the course.

Long stretches where you only see the security people.

I agree, At least the parcours over the next few days look abit better.

It doesn't help that I'm watching it with Phil Liggett alone on commentary.

But yeah tomorrow stage looks a bit more interesting.
