Just up from Mark Renshaw twitter

"This #Tour of Britain is damn hard! Very hard start split the bunch after only 10kms. Legs are hurting after climbing every little /\ here."

It appears the TOB isn't the sprinter snoozefest a lot of people were expecting.

It's the riders who make a race hard - not the race itself.

Just noticed a Twitter from Simon Richardson (cycling weekly journalist) who said that haussler was hanging on to team cars all day?

They probably got asked for their cervelo test bikes back. Cycling Weekly have a habit of making themselves very unpopular within the pro peloton!!

True, I found it amusing on a report this week that cycling weekly stated "Bradley wiggins does not talk to cycling weekly"

They take years with the results. Are you guys able to watch highlights programme on itv4 website or is it geo restricted?

It's just flat-out bad. I like that they try to show highlights of the whole stage, especially on days like today when there is action from start to finish, but the commentary is crap, the graphics and information displays are lame and the overall production just feels cheap and unprofessional.

They do an hour-long TdF highlights show in the summer that is fantastic, I don't see why they can't make an hour-long ToB highlights show that is the same quality.

I tuned in expecting it to be as good as the TdF show. So what that the ToB doesn't have the prestige - it is still the UK's flagship cycling event and ITV4 is its best way of getting people interested.

Actually, the ITV4 TdF highlights programme is very well put together. Eurosport don't even bother as far as I can tell - they just repeat the last hour of the stage with no editing.

Baah. I still enjoyed the stage.

The full result is still not up on the ToB website. Still its not 6 hours after the finish yet so give it a while yet.

And still not there. Previously it has definitely be up by the time the ITV4 highlights programmer has finished. Doesn't help the cause :(

Good to see another strong showing by Jack Bauer... for us Kiwis this race has been the only opportunity to see the national champions jersey getting any TV time this year and he's doing it good justice.

One thing that the ToB is definitely doing better then the TdF....

The dresses for the podium girls are much much better. :D

Um, Geoffroy Lequatre is a sprinter? Romain Feillu arguably? Martin Pedersen a sprinter? Nick Nuyens a sprinter? Mauricio Ardila a sprinter?

Ok, so its not won by a contador, or a moncoutie, but hardly what you would call sprinters. TO be fair i expected Griepel to win this year but the parcours has proved to be a bit harder than i expected.

Zanini is a sprinter. The reason those guys have most likely won is by breakaway's. Anyway ToB is in September so they do have more freedom with setting a route. It is not just a route that makesa good race, it is the riders in it.

You said sprinters always win it and that makes it a crap race, in fact sprinters rarely win it. What difference does the time of year make.

and it does have decent riders, some very very good riders, and some notable ones like haussler are really struggling.

Just admit defeat on this one. (and besides, our podium girls are gorgeous)

to be honest, im surprised BMC didnt give it a go, the course might have suited cadel. Seriously.

Zanini also won the Amstel Gold Race, so you might have a slightly misguided concept of him.

More importantly, Zanini never won the Tour of Britain. Stop looking up races in Wikipedia, misreading the results and using them anyway to support your ill-conceived points.
