Believe me, if you had any idea how much traffic there is on our roads, and how *** the majority of the people driving are, in particular with regard to their perception of cycling as a sport - the organisation required to achieve a safe passage for the race, is far far from amateur!:);)

Put people in a car here and they think cyclists should simply not be allowed to exist, so arranging a large scale cycling event is probably quite difficult.

Where they go is all down to money, just as it is in the GTs

Hence why there are two devon stages again this year, for the third year in a row. And exeter gets a round of the tour series. Exeter city council and devon county council are probably the most cycling freindly and helpful councils in the country. (and they also have the money, exeter gets cycling funding from government). Stoke on trent is another that has resources for cycling and backs it up with races.

Exactly.
The attitude to cyclists in this country is a joke. Ive had drivers try to run me over when i make a right turn into a side road (after signaling 3 times). They are perplexed by the idea of a cyclist on the right side. WHy is he doing all those movements with his right arm :rolleyes: Soultion: run him over.

What we need is to be allowed to cycle on the pavements. Atm its a £30 fine for doing so. I dont buy this "they will cycle too fast and run people over" crap. If some cycle fast then give them the £30 fine ffs

Most of us just want to prolong our lives in a country cyclist mortality rates are very high.

TBH its not the cars you'll have to worry about on the stage over Dartmoor but the rather stuborn sheep that are quite happy lying on the roads.

Break is clear. Stephen Gallagher (Sigma Sport), Wout Poels (Vaconsoleil) and Richie Porte (Saxo Bank). They lead the peloton by 1m. Matt Brammier (An-Post) somewhere between the break and the peloton.

There'll be no result for the 1st sprint because the rain jeckets meant they could pick out the riders.
