There used to be some one day races that were part of the old World Cup in the UK.

The Leeds classic I think it was called.. Another Brit semi classic in the future would be nice but unlikely.

Boom is quite impressive if he can keep his composure, could be dangerous at the Worlds. Maybe.

Overall it probably is though I think the stages to Wilunga and Stirling provide better racing than what any stage in the Tour of Britain does.

Can I ask, does the winner get some scones and tea for winning today after Boom got a fruit bowl yesterday?

nah, today they get some welsh cakes and a sheep, tomorrow a cream tea, friday some scrumpy, saturday a porcelean windmill, and sunday a cheaky chappie with a top hat, walking stick and a comical dance.

Except from 2009 ToB has been far better than TDU. TDU has one exciting stage, ToB usually has at least 3-5 good stages (depending on the weather).

That Rapha Condor rider which kept on attacking was quite impressive.

Jonathan Tiernan-Locke

And here is today's breakaway: Kristian House, Jack Bauer, and Pieter Ghyllebert - Sprints competition leader

Just finished watching the highlights to Stage 2.

Impressive ride by some of the domestic team riders to stay up there especially Biby + Craven who tried to attack :D

Looking forward to see how Rene Mandri goes. He should be good in this level of competition and if his motivation to come back to Pro Tour in 1-2 years is still there, then he should be able to perform in here. Should be in his top form aswell.

Yes, it was the Leeds Classic and it used to follow on directly from the Kellogg's Tour of Britain, which typically finished nearby to enable quick transfers. Great to see guys like Chiapucci there.

Alberto Volpi (then a Conconi client, now a Liquigas DS) tested positive after winning the last edition.

Before that, we had the Wincanton Classic down in Brighton. Leeds was much too hard, Brighton wasn't hard enough. They never seemed to get the balance right.

so is it better than the tour down under yet.

For me, yesterdays amazing echelons made the whole race worthwhile.

even if the race is now down to a boom, thomas, gerdemman three way fight for the time being.

easily better then tdu.

Thought the stage yesterday was pretty interesting.

Itching to get to the London part, but don't see how with my house being taken over by builders :(

It has all day, no way rab be on front if he was dropped.

The tracker is an OS map with very large scale I think it just show front & back of peleton stretched out in single line.
