I think Boom has been outstanding. His positioning in the sprint stages has been excellent, and hes always been in the right place on other stages.

Think he came into this race having read the road book very thoroughly and with a real aim to win it, which he will do.

Very impressive, but it has been handed to him on a plate a little by Sky, Garmin and Leopards lack of threat.
Sky haven't done very well in their home race. Okay, Thomas sort of crashed out, but they have 5 other riders.

As for Boom: well done, but the competition is really poor. Thomas was his only real threat.

If Thor had made an effort perhaps also a threat, but he's soft peddled most of the race.

Hey now, there's the awesomeness that is Linus Gerdemann, and don't forget the super fearful Tiernan Locke, who did drop Boom on a climb, unlike Thomas.

Boom and Rasmussen have no chance. There are some hills in the course.

Wow... Poor Lars really cannot win in your book, can he? :p

I'll admit that I'm not a big fan, and this is the first time this year that his climbing is somewhat decent. But still, this isn't the hardest contested race out there.

edit: and he doesn't even win the time trial :p

Boom 2nd in TT (disappointing). Barely ahead of Westra.
Congrats to Dowsett of course.

tiernan locke is actually a guy to be noted in future. I firsrt noticed him when he tore down fields in spain on mountains against serious competition. now he seems to be also very good rouleur and itt guy. don't know much about him though

You can't win em all. Well done Dowsett.

And Westra showing some form after we've been criticizing him for doing nothing

Boom probably enjoying the terrible road conditions here in Britain.
No cobbles but plenty of potholes and ****ed road surface.

I only know Tiernan Locke from losing the Vuelta a Leon to Marc Goos. A Rabo Continental rider. So this is the level of riders currently in contention at the ToB? Well, great.

At last Dowsett wins a TT or prologue, has a breakaway win also from a couple of weeks back so well done to him.

Tiernan-Locke was also afforded a bit of slack since he'd lost a bit of time and they knew he was primarily after the GPM points. Looks like he could be an ok domestique at the next level, maybe nothing more though. I see more of Endura racing outside of Britain, but Rapha Condor always seem to get pretty decent results when they do - just that many of the races they do are a long, long way off my radar (Tour of South Africa anyone?)

Tiernan won because he had stayed on Goos' wheel the whole time. Goos was riding Tiernan's teammate out of the GC lead.

I didn't mean like he was several minutes down. That he's lost a few seconds here and there in small splits and though he's OK against the clock the likes of Lars Boom aren't really going to feel threatened by letting him gain 10 seconds when he already had a 30 second headstart, so he wouldn't be marked as closely as some of the others.
