About 20-30 men were guided to the wrong way by the road security men. Only few of them made it back to get the same time with the group.

Not really. It was just a roundabout, where going one way was slightly more beneficial. Most went the right way, some didnt, and the splits at the end were as much due to the high pace.

Very wet weather conditions throughout. Such a shame that Voigt crashed out.

And in the sprint. Boom led for much of the final kilometre, ahead of Bos, Renshaw and Cavendish. Nobody else had much of a chance with a few hundred metres to go, and Bos didnt really have a response when Renshaw launched, so it was very easy for Cavendish.

The "toned down" Hurricane Katya has almost reached the race.
80mph (125kph) gusts have already been recorded to the SW of Blackpool.

My guess is that today's stage will be cancelled.

Maybe if they call it off today Cav can get this stupid announcement out of the way.

Good decision cycling in that wind is impossible and extremely dangerous, stage would be a farce

Yeah, I think you're right. Shame though

'Winds rising across the UK.

The deep area of low pressure which contains post-tropical cyclone Katia was at 0900 BST centred approximately 200 miles northwest of Sligo, Ireland with a central pressure of 966 hpa. Winds are strengthening, currently meaning 55 mph with a recent gust of 82 mph at Capel Curig in the mountains of North Wales. Elsewhere winds are widely gusting to 40 to 50 mph, with further strengthening expected across some northern areas through today.'

The bigger issue would be the motorbikes. A cyclist can just about battle on through the wind, but a moto with two people on and a tv camera in a gale is an accident waiting to happen.

Im on the east coast and its blowing a gale here, god knows what its like on the west coast.

weather warnings for the west coast are now at amber. Dont think weve had a red warning in a while

Glad I didn't head out to the race after all, otherwise I'd still be stood there like an idiot thinking 'slow b*stards...' :p I'm in Lancaster and the winds even had my dogs struggling to run when they were out in the fields.
