Remco Evenepoel had zijn zinnen gezet op de 4e etappe in de Tour of Britain, maar kon geen breuk forceren met een aanval. In de sprint zat hij goed gepositioneerd, maar Evenepoel kon geen gooi doen naar ritwinst. Een mechanische hapering verklaarde zijn terugval naar de 19e plaats.

In his neopro year, he dropped everyone on a 5.8k at 6% (with 1.5k at 8.5% early on) MTF in Limousin (and that was a solid field - Óscar Rodríguez, Jesús Herrada, Cosnefroy, Jegat, Vauquelin and Storer finished 2nd through 7th), and this year he did a great split on Malhão (which is similar to the steep section here) in Algarve. An in-form Grégoire (which we seem to have) against anyone here but an in-form Onley or Evenepoel (we don't seem to have the former, less certain about the latter) should be able to do this.
