I missed the entire stage I was out playing tennis. +2'15" isn't pathetic for Schleck. That is a guarenteed norm for him. He is an absolutely horrible time trialer. Thats where he loses his time at in the TDF. If he could time trial anything close to Contador he would already be a TDF winner, possibly two time.

Thats why I don't understand why he is even messing around in California. There are not enough big mountain stages for him to get back time like the European stage races or the GT's.

Maybe just to warm his legs for the Tour de Suisse.

The biggest surprise to me was Taylor Phinney. There is no way I would have expected him to be out of the top 5 let alone the top 20. :(

I wasn't surprised about taylor's or Schlecks peformance. Schleck is an average time trialler htough still was quite average on a course which would suit him. Taylor said he is really tired and has had a very interupted season.

that has to be the funniest thing i have ever heard

Schleck lost 42" on Stage 1 TT and 31" on Stage 19 TT and only lost by 39" even after Schleck popped his chain and AC took off of him gaining 39" that stage. Last year he could have won but probably not 2009. :p

well since we are in the world of the "if's" if no1 had waited for schleck when he was 5 minutes behind on stage 2 and if frankie boy hadn't crashed in front of contador and made him lose 1:30 on the cobbles . . . . .

also contador rode a defensive race cus he knew he could trust his itt, even tho that almost went wrong, so we don't really know if he couldn't put time into andy if he decided to attack like he usually does. i don't think he could cus he clearly wasn't in top form but once again this is the land of the "if's"

see what i did there?

Phil Liggett has forgotten more about cycling than he knew about it in the first place.

Oh no Liggett didn't say that. I don't pay attention to Phil or Paul. I just watch versus because its the only way I can watch the race other than RadioShack tour tracker.

The team is still riding for Levi was the words out of Horners mouth after he pedaled away from Levi on Sierra Road. He said that in the after race press conference with Bob Roll.

You know, we here in the States really need more imaginative mountain names. Mount Baldy? WTF?

Although you have to admit, there is some harmony to having Horner and Levi, two bald guys, fighting it out for the win on...Mt. Baldy.

It's actually Mt. San Antonio. The local nickname is Baldy because the top is virtually treeless.

Contador lost more than a minute because he had broken spokes in the cobbled stage and was stuck behind someone's crash. Tell the whole story will ya. Would have never won the Tour because he only outclimbed Contador once in a sprint. And let's not forget about what happened to Mende.

Probably not 2009? Lol, he got outclimbed and out time trialled. How was he supposed to win? By outflatting him?

They could have called it Mount Ventutu.

The 2 Pees had a lot of nice things to say about Big George, yesterday.
I wonder if he'll get a similar mention, today?

Dave Zee no surprise, given the way he blitzed a similar course in Romandie a few weeks back.
