After this Tour of Denmark UNO X will come really close to 19th place, Arkea on the 3y ranking. They are closing the gap towards 18th place (DSM) pretty quickly the last few months. I gave them no chance to get a WT license in 2026 at the beginning of the year, but it's actually looking pretty good right now with the flow they're in. Will be hard to keep scoring like this the upcoming weeks tho, even tho I expected them to win that small french race where only the TT matters, and do really good in Druivenkoers en Muur classic.

The key for Uno-X is to get THJ and the climber boys to score more. San Sebastian would be a good chance, but they were far away. Can they do better in Canada? Scoring top 10 results in these races and Lombardia could make a significant difference. Like 3 x 8th or something is like almost 500 points…

I guess it's mainly because he doesn't really like them? I mean he seems to simply choose riding stage races over one day races.

It's mainly because he doesn't like - and isn't very good at - positioning, which is much more important in a classic early on in the race than in a stage like this. He's much, much better as a stage hunter where he doesn't have to fight for positions.

Since he entered the ProTour I've had the impression of a young kid still having alot to learn.
However, I'm still of the opinion that when he gets a handle on his finals and improve quite some in managing his energy and raw power properly distributed over the entire race distance, he'll be a beast in the one-day classics in a couple of years. In any case, I imagine a Lotto coach working overtime at present.

yeah, I think so, but ASO always gets a bit of leeway, also when it comes to bonus seconds, for example.

When they did this TTT in Paris-Nice, though, groups arriving together got the same time, unlike this week. No idea how DCU managed to get the freedom to be able to do whatever they like.

I see but he was at peak shape at the time.. The fact that he withstood a chasing favorite group is still quite amazing.

And he did won on the Cow and Calf which is fairly similar. Perhaps, Mur De Huy is a bit too much. But similar riders have done well on that hill.

He has no chance on the Mur de Huy and I don't think similar riders have done well there. Matthews perhaps but he hasn't been really close to winning. Otherwise, I don't know who you could be referring to?

And his win on Cullera was amazing but you can't just say that the fact he withstood a chasing peloton in itself was an amazing feat as the amazingness is highly dependent on the gap at the bottom.

The Tour of Denmark is a good illustration of why there is normally a breakaway in cycling even when a bunch sprint is expected. In this race, the early breakaways are more or less always created by minor teams who go for the publicity and the KoM points.

In the Tour de France - especially this year - even the minor teams are big. They don't think publicity is a good enough reason for going into breakaways that everyone knows will be caught. And on the early stages, the KoM points are too few and far between to be useful in the battle for the general KoM competition later on - contrary to Tour of Denmark where the jersey is often won by the small teams.
