So, they do know how to put how many Ks to go on the screen, but apparently they don't think it should be a permanent feature.
(Less than) 12 Ks to go.

Van Gils second here as well after being 5th in the Muscat Classic.

Perhaps, taken another step forward during the off-season. Will be interesting to follow him this year.

Depends, got to wait till Wednesday if he actually made a step forward. Or let me rephrase it, if he's more of a puncheur or if he an actually do a 20min effort too. His form is good tho. Saudi Tour last year definitely wasn't a fluke.

It will be too early to tell anyway. Only the first race of the season.

Looking at the results this one was definitely for the puncheurs as the real climbers were in the 2nd group. Herrada is pretty good on 20 minute climbs too tho, so with this form (and the possibility to pick up extra boni's in the upcoming 2 stages) he must be one of the favorites now.

Ow Logic is back

Wonder if Van Gils can build on his form going into the summer. Last year he was good early on, but faded hard.

He got covid right after, than got stomach flu just before the hilly classics and then covid again in the Vuelta... It was a shitty season for him after that Saudi Tour. He also was in topform in the Saudi Tour last year (as planned), this year he said he shouldn't be in topform yet.

Also I do think those easy desert races, with just one hill for punchers are perfect for him. I doubt he will be super close on Wednesday on Green Mountain.

Tomorrow's MTF is even longer, 5km @ 8%. Less puncher friendly than today's

It's quite an irregular climb, with a very steep finish
