Thats not actually such a bad thing. In the Netherlands disabled people can apply to get money from the state to be spent on prostitutes.

What a brilliant idea.

I know that has absolutely nothing to do with The tour of Oman but anything to change the subject from a Gesink victory will do ;)
You laugh, but I remember a story from a few months ago that the exact same thing happened in Britain. If I remember correctly the story was even more ludicrous, since the British taxpayer flew out this poor young lad on disability benefit to Amsterdam to have sex with a hooker (probably flew out his social worker too to accompany him).

This does however undercut my indignation from before about Amsterdam being excessively associated with prostitution.

No i think it is a great idea. They say societies are judged by how they treat the poor, the weak the powerless. I 100% support giving disabled money for such purposes. I think it alojne justifies legalised prostitution and thats why i mentioned it.

I have absolutely no idea why you think i was laughing about it and i wouldnt respect anyone who saw nothing but humour in such a serious situation.

I would respond to this, but a mod would probably get on my case...

Without extending the conversation let me just say that I didn't take it as humorous, I thought the 'what a brilliant idea' was a sarcastic comment, along the lines of 'look at what those idiot Cloggies do with their money'...

Yeh, lucky people aren't talking about CQ points though as that is far worse than random off topic posts about Amsterdam's culture.

Thread is quite massive though, and a lot more posts than the Qatar thread combined, not bad for a race with no live coverage.

Nice to see that the Dutch mafiia have an air force.

"Edvald posted a good time today, just two seconds back on Cancellara, but it could have been better. At the turning point, he was on the same time as Gesink, but as he went back up the hill, the helicopter swooped down to about ten meters above him, and it was like riding in a hurricane for him."

Knaven isn't lying when he describes the conditions beneath the woebegone chopper.

"All the sand and leaves whipped up, and he was right in the middle of it. His bike was wobbling uncontrollably, and he almost crashed. That cost him all his speed, and his concentration and cadence were obviously affected as well."

pfff thats nothing here.

Thats far more likely to occur on something like the Omloop thread where ACF gets quite defensive on the point of whether Bmc has a good cobbles team or not.

But its really going to kick off as we approach the Tour as ACF will treat BMC finishing higher than Rabo in Les Essarts ttt as some sort of ultra victory.

It seems to be evident that the ACF mafia is not supporting their leader, Auscyclefan94. This is a shame. I guess we are waiting for cade's start to the season. March 3. Can't wait!

I'm willing to have a bet with ACF on this one

The last stage race he won was the Settimana Lombarda in 2006, as rider from the Rabobank Continental team.

He had plenty of oppurtunities to win a stage race after that but somehow managed to lose it every time... Especially in Paris Nice and Tour de Suisse that was quite something considering the lead he had build up

He won Circuito Montañes in the same year. And he sort of won the Tour de l'Avenir ;)

I say "sort of"... he got second behind Moises Dueñas, a doper who was 5 years older and had ridden the Tour de France (!) in the same year.
