That could be seen as sarcastic, not sure if you mean it that way.

But usually when sprinters finish 4 and 7, it means one didn't fully sacrifise him the right way for the other, and kept sprinting for himself.

I was sarcastic off course :)

Wow, it does seem like Bos won it with the throw from that shot. You can see the evidence of Sky's late push, they have three in the top 10, and Garmin must have been caught off-guard because Haussler is way back in 14th.

T-Phin and TGAK sneaking in to the top 20.

It seems the finish was a bit chaotic

" Well within sight of the finishing gantry, Cavendish had to swerve abruptly to avoid a spectator standing on the edge of the road. " So did a few other riders.

It´s scheduled at 23:00 on Eurosport 2.

Ive just realised whats going on/remembered what happened last year.

The highlights are on one day delay all week. So mondays stage is on tuesday am, and TUESDAY NIGHT, tuesdays stage is on WEDNESDAY night etc etc.

And yes, Algarve has vanished completely.

Would sort of expect Cav to get one, now that we know he's fit. The last km is an uphill though, looks to be about 5%.

Also: Greame Brown: an excellent man to have as a lead out, no?

Also: Phinney-obviously not all he's cracked up to be. BMC must be weeping over their poor judgement in signing him;)

The official site has the final KM at 1%, after a few Km of 2% descent, so I don't think it will affect things too much.

Last year's Eurosport highlights were a day late and half the programme was more like a holiday programme than a bike race!

He's just come off an injury.

If he could get away with it, Taylor would be twittering whilst riding.

In fact you could make the bold claim that he's the biggest Twit in the bunch. :D

So true. The guy should stop tweeting about his pseudo model girlfriend. Must be his first one.

So is Bos... it's not like he was peaking in Oman (Rabo even said in Qatar Bos is not in form 'like planned')

Ofcourse, we can be sure that in a slightly harder race and in more important races Cavendish will kick *** once again.

But it's not like the other sprinters are in top form and just Cavendish is 'warming up'. Only the 'classic' sprinters, like Haussler and such, might, or better must, be in better shape right now

It's not. Thanks.

Man, that looked like a sketchy move from Cav at the end, cutting in front of Hayman.

The same could be said of Bos's little swerve at the end. No-one seemed to complain though.

Race video (if it's not geo-restricted)

It looks like Sky was there to get a lead out going but it was left a little too late so when Downing took over from Hayman it was so close to the finish that EBH had to go straight away instead of being able to take advantage of the lead out.

If anyone wants to beat Cavendish then this is the type of sprint in which it can be done. It was a sprint without the big leadouts for the main sprinters so Cav was left to come by Bos on with his own kick at the end and at this point in the season it wasn't quite enough.

Cavendish said that the distance to go markers were wrong and a 3km to go marker was at the 2km point. If true, it may have caught several out.

True, but look where Bos is coming from... he wasn't exactly perfectly positioned himself. He did a very long sprint.

Nothing like Cav's move in traffic, though. And no, I'm NOT trying to Cav bash here.

It's just sprinting. These things happen. In any sprint you could point the finger at half a dozen riders doing something wrong.

(I thought Cav's move was quite impressive. Very McEwen-like)

Maybe. I'd have had to been in the bunch to know for sure but it's a little scary watching it. I've certainly been taken out by something similar.

+1

To add to the comparison, Cav's move didn't affect the result, whereas Bos looks like he would have been struggling to hold on if he hadn't ridden Cav across the road at the end.

Good sprint - Good early burst from Bos, Cav boxed but nearly making up for it by being the quickest by a distance at the end.

I'm suprised from how far he had to come.
Was that Brown bringing him to the front, or was it Bos himself sprinting twice (one to get to the front, and once to sprint)

It was unclear.

Looks like to me it was Bos having to sprint to reach the front and then having to sprint for the win. And Brown finished around 40th means he had to leave Bos on his own pretty quickly.
