According to the Rabosport.nl report, Bos said it was a very chaotic sprint. No train could hold because of strong wind. Then at 700m he saw Graeme Brown pass, Bos jumped into the wheel and Brown kept going till 300m. Then other trains tried to pass. Brown blocked them and Bos started sprinting from there.
The whole time he felt someone was in his wheel, but couldn't pass, and it turned out that someone was Bennati.
So indeed, it seems Bennati lacks pure speed, his 2nd place is from trying to hold Bos' wheel. :p
If you can't jump off the wheel of someone who's been sprinting 300 m into a strong headwind, that's not very good.

Got to say Benatti will be a contender for the green jersey at this years TDF if he keeps reeling in the podiums so consistently. Also, he is a survivor, so he can take points where the pure sprinters can't.

Although I do seem to recall he was not sure on whether he would ride the Tour at all this year.

Yay for the Boss! It's looking like he's finally getting the kinks out of riding on the road, because all of his road wins in prior years came against mediocre competition. Now he's beat a very good cast of characters twice... Very promising.

Mediocre competition... some bloke named Bark Slavendish, or something like that ;)

brown is probably a better leadout man then a leader also. He can knock the competition out of the way at the very least anyway :D

I'm more surprised that noone else came within length of Bos.

Bos might yet prove the master of the looooong sprint.... He is a former Kilo World Champ.

Yes.... That was when Cav was still nursing a killer toothache or something like that and couldn't bike for...

Might be an effective measure against Cav... After all Petacchi has possibly the best record vs the Manxman.

I cant believe I'm sticking up for Theo Bos.. I must be mad.:p

Graeme Brown can be a great lead out guy though, I've always advocated that because he usually gets near the front, has a lot of power and presence but cant quite finish the win off but leading out somebody quicker like Bos or Matthews is good..

Yeh, would make Renshaw look like a fairy as a leadout.

Wow. And your supposed to be one of the more moderate dutchies :p
He did beat him. That's all there's to it :p

In a few years time, no one will remember that Cav was riding around like an overfed zombie back then.

Please, cycling fans are like elephants... They'll never forget things like extenuating circumstances. Even the Jan van Speijk-class of Dutch ultras wont ever be able to forget.

And in a few years time well all remember that at the Vuelta Vincenzo Nibali did what Bobby Gesink never could.

Beat Denis Menchov ;)

All ill remember from this though is that Bos got me cq points.

I love that modern sprinters are ranked by how many times they have beaten Cav.

Its a good system considering the sprinter most responsible for beating Cav is mark himself.

HTC, or mainly Goss, complaining that Brown pushed everyone out of the way giving Bos and Bennati a clear run

Brown is an utter lunatic. If he were to become the lead-out man for Rabobank, one might as well start calling him the "loco locomotive".

He hasn't done anything out of the ordinary in the past few years. He has made a name for himself as a crazy sprinter, but there's not much proof of that, recently.
