Nice win for Horner, good to see the old guy can still get a good result.

Sad to see Morton lost the overall lead though, I guess he'll just have to make up for it with another solo stage win. :D And Gavin Mannion 15th! that's a good result considering his crash a couple days ago. :)

How the h*** does a 41-yo manage to get directly back from training after a serious injury and race this good in high mountains? And it isn't the first time....

it's called training and he's riding here against very bad competition

Vandevelde is currently 38 minutes back. That's a bit of a surprise for a guy who came close to a TdF podium a few years ago.

last year he still won colorado, so what is your point.

I am predicting that Horner will use the presence of Busche and Bennett in the next group to excuse his riding.

"I've got three guys behind, and I know they're sitting on," Horner said of the tactics in the finale. "So if they catch us they're going to counter. So tactically I know I'm in a good spot to be able to sit on. It's my right to sit on. It feels bad to do it because Tommy is a friend of mine, but you gotta do what you gotta do at times."

Nice call. Horner seems really broken up.

What a joke that was. Horner wheelsucking his way up and Danielson not bothering at all about the stage win, instead just riding a high pace, completely fine with Horner sucking his wheel.

Well Horner had no reason to take a turn since he had two teammates in the next group.

Machado in the top10, I have to say I'm surprised although the competition level seems a bit on the lowside. Also, he was beaten by 3 team-mates: Bennet, Busche and Horner (what the f**** :D ?).

He attacked a few times early on the climb to force morton to chase and stuff like that, but he says he suffered at altitute which is why he was dropped on te first cat climb.

From where is this Machado fantasy love coming? What has this guy won?

Meanwhile, Horner has been a solid rider even before his Labor Power days.

Because both me and trevim are portuguese so we care about his career and unless i missed something, we are allowed to discuss his results. Also because up until the 2011 giro he looked like one of the most promising stage racers in the world and then all of a sudden his performances started going downhill non stop which is very weird.

I really want to know what happened to the rider who was doing top 10/5 in every stage race he was entering. . .

usually you don't do turns when you have team mates in front, not the other way around...

if that 2nd group had made it back Euser would be leading in gc now, and not Radioshack

Not sure about UHC's tactics, Euser was dropped on the penultimate climb near the top, and made it back on on the descent, then they made Deignan work for him on Snowbird when it seemed evident Deignan had the better legs.....

I was refering to the 2nd part of your post. He could never have beaten Horner, that's why Danielson just kept riding for gc

Of course he could have. It was a sprint after a hard mountain stage and he was looking very strong the entire day.

What gc? Horner is his only opponent and whoever crossed the line first would be the new leader.

Lol I just realised Horner is literally 20 years older than Morton :D

If Horner was waiting for his teammates, then why were his teammates wheelsucking a continental rider? Good ride by Lucas Euser btw!

my point is not that Horner is quick or something like that, just that Danielson is one of the worst sprinters in the field. He'd lose 9/10 sprints versus Horner, no matter the circumstances.

that's not true btw, it's down to the number of aggregated placings as far as I know

And my point is that a sprint after a mountain stage is not a regular sprint. He should have at least tried something. The guy kept riding on and litterately didn't look back once in the final k.

Then the ticker was wrong, which would be no surprise.

Nice, I didn't watch the stage but it's good that he has done something. And you're right, I don't care about GT's for him anymore but he was top10 material on WT stage races like Tirreno. So clearly he has value for some teams that need guys who can pick up WT point.s
