I was commenting that it is surprising to see Vandevelde so far back, given how well he has ridden in the past. Then you give an example (his win in Colorado last year), that offers more support to my point that his performance here is surprising.

that's why I answered just now that it's not surprising considering how many times he crashed again in recent months.

I would love to see Vande Velde doing well in Colorado (he is my favourite rider), but I can't see it. I think team's leadership will be between Danielson and Talansky.

It's a real shame what Christian's last years of career look like. Since 2010 his results don't match his talent, he is always involved in crashes during crucial part of the season etc.
Last year's win in US Pro Challenge was nice, but I would prefer him to get some results in World Tour races.

I still wonder how would Hesjedal's career evolved without Vande Velde's crash in TdF2010. Would he ever be considered as a GC rider for Grand Tours?
