Kopecky saved her chances with a 6th place.

Paternoster wanted to win the sprint but started a lap too early, she let go in the last lap. Haven't seen her so bad this year in the Omnium. Normally she's really good in the Elimination, we'll see there if it's the legs or tactics that got her only in 15th.

Valente looks so strong and in control.

Still find it strange that Coles-Lyster and/or Baker didn’t get eliminated. Now they got 2nd and 3th after becoming last before. If it’s close, let both of them out instead of in.

Valente immediately winning the first sprint with dominance. Will be a race for bronze for all the others.

Kopecky didn't start her omnium until 30 laps to go in the points race. Insanely passive ride for someone who already has a medal.
She said the first sprint in Elimination took a lot out of her. She was almost out there from the back. Didn’t recovered from it the whole race and why she started riding tempo in front because she didn’t have an acceleration anymore.
Wasn’t as fresh as normal in the points race.

Just watched the fall of Paternoster again in slowmotion. She hit her head on the track. I’ve followed her the last years and the first time she didn’t look herself, could well be a light concussion I guess.

She was dreaming of this day for years. I’m gutted for her. I had a lot of expectations, was waiting for this last Olympics day and hoped she could be in the mix. D*mn.

I’m just hoping she’s okay. Physically and mentally.

A lot of soul searching among UK media about GB's performances, which strikes me as very "I care about cycling every four years".

The years of dominance have been gone since, like, 2016. Especially among the men, the field is much more competitive than it was 2004-2016 and the generational talents (Ganna, Valente, Lavreysen) are elsewhere. The track set-up is still excellent, it's just harder to win golds than it was a decade ago.
