This might mean that Cobo is Astana-bound? Or in any case Geox want some reassurance. On the other hand it looks bleak for AG2R ... they might not make the cut!

No Ag2r would be an absolute disgrace.

Why? They've only won five races all season, only one of which was on the World Tour and they are dead last in the World Tour rankings.

4th at the Giro, 10th at the Tour, excellent climbing squad, good recruiting, established team.

I also really like AG2R but even if they dont make WT should still be ok. They should get a Giro invite if only on the promise that Dupont will ride (he was AWESOME there too) + they have Nocentini, and TDf will obviously invite them, especially if Frances number 1 gt contender decides to take on his home race.

That leaves the Vuelta. Let someone else in there imo.

How could you leave out Gadret from their Giro success? I'll agree with you when it comes to the Vuelta, I'd give Europcar or FDJ a ride over AG2R.

From the front page - Joost Posthuma is said to be the next signing for the new GreenEdge team, according to De Telegraaf.

Seems cav is off to quickstep, looking at comments on twitter from various British journalists

Always been a decent possibility.

Half of the ex-HTC contingent at OPQS would welcome his arrival; Tony Martin and Peter Velits maybe not.

I think those Cav rumours are born from this message:

wielerman | Renaat Schotte
Everybody's denying it, so? #cav #cop11 twitpic.com/6ugtl6
1 hour ago

The link Renaat Schotte (Belgium TV) provided is to a yet-to-be published article (in Dutch). The part that is readable states that they are talking about rumours. Their main point is the bike dispute, they claim Cavendish wants to ride Specialized, but Sky is bound to Pinarello, therefore negating the possibility that Cav is going to Sky. They next claim that OPQS is the best candidate to take him. So, it's basically about the same fact we already know: The personal sponsorship deals of the Cav are not going well with the deals of Sky. No real news.

So rumours at best, written down by Belgium journalist who would love to Cav going to a Belgium team.

Addition:
The quote of Lefevere that it visible on the right states "Cavendish to my team next year? I wish"

Thanks for the translation.

The full quote from Lefevere is: "“Will Cavendish next year be in my cycling team? I wish,” he said. “But I have thirty riders under contract.”

Anyone know how big the sponsor disputes are? And is it likely to be a deal breaker? I am sure Cavendish does not want to lose his personal sponsors in an Olympic year, he probably wants to get as many as possible. It is the Olympics and it is held in London.

Okay, so the article only took half of the quote knowingly, to their advantage. That decreases their credibility. I don't think this is very reliable sign of Cav going to OPQS (although he might still go).

Having 30 riders cant be much of a problem, buying out 2 nobodies isnt that expensive compared to a ~2.8million euro/year contract.

IIRC Cav has a deal with Nike and Sky are sponsored by Adidas, so you can see how that might be a problem.

I won't be surprised to see Cav in the Lefevre's team but so far it seems that this rumour is based only on the Cav's desire to ride on on the Specialized.

Don't think it's a problem at all to be honest, look how many footballers have seperate boot deals to the clubs kit maker.

Your reading to much into it IMO.

it's allowed in football (but it concerns to boots only)

My guess is that the delay in announcement of Cav going to Sky is due to these contract issues with various sponsors but at the end of the day I don't think there is any way that Sky will fail to get Cav over something like that. A solution will be found (even if it may cost Sky some money) but eventually the announcement will come.
