I love that even Procycling.no has it down as «stjernerytter» and «storsponsor». Makes it seem a bit sarcastic.

Don't know if anyone's posted on Stake Længen going to Team Type 1 yet? Seems Joker are being gutted of their top riders.

I also thought that was how his name was suppose to be at first but it turns out it's actually Laengen (pronounced la-engen).

I don't think they mind losing their riders to the pro ranks. That's the whole point of the team isn't it? To develop riders that can take the next step. They also don't seem to have any problems recruiting the best talents from the other norwegian teams either. And with riders like Stian Remme and Svein Erik Vold they have the experience in the team to take care of the younger riders that pass through.

I suppose the thing is, they want to continue to be successful in the Scandinavian cycling scene, continue to get invites abroad, and so need to keep some of the talent to ensure that, but also know that their best riders are always going to go to the pro ranks. Paris-Corrèze, Druivenkoers-Overijse, Schaal Sels, Tour of China, Mi-Août Bréton, Rhône-Alpes Isère Tour, Cinturon Mallorca, Tour de Normandie, Tour Alsace and their local .2-rated races isn't a bad season, but I'm sure they'd want to pick up a few more if they could - they used to do the Tour of Britain, Tour of Ireland, Tour de Brétagne and Tour des Pyrénées, for example.

It just depends if Christina Watches becomes a pro team really. I'm sure they'd prefer not to lose their best riders to teams that are effectively rivals, but they won't want to stop their prospects stepping up to the next level just as they didn't stop Wilmann going to Skil in 2010.

Well, they're not really losing Wilmann, they let him go on their own terms because he wasn't developing well enough given his age.

wasn't he supposed to have a few WT teams trying to get him? doesn't seem like the wisest move tho it might have been the only option left being this late on the transfer season

Or as Van Oudenhove (DS) said: He (Willmann) takes a lot of space both physical and economical, and demands a lot of others.

I don't think I'd put Oudenhove down as my reference if I were Willman

I think that's why Skil released him as well. Not good for the atmosphere in the team, or something like that.

Ya, my impression is that Wilmann has a very inflated sense of his own ability without being able to back it up and very unrealistic expectations on the opportunities he thinks he deserves because of it.

according to the CN home page Francesco Ginanni (Androni) and Francesco Reda (QuickStep) will start the season 2012 in Acqua Sapone while Danilo DiLuca is in talks with Palmiro Masciarelli's team.
DiLuca would be an excellent signing I'm happy for Ginanni too, he's a decent rider who had the season to forget, i'm sure he is a perfect replacement for Paolini who was very missing in this year's A&S...

That's good to see, let's just hope they can develop them better than their Pro team

lol ^^That

anyway i like the way bmc developed themselves over the years, yes they have become a big money team now but they only did it after slowly crawling their way into a WT spot. i hope they manage to develop some talent like rabo does.

if only there wasn't so much bmc fanboyism on this forum i would prolly like them a bit more :p

i actually think their kit is awful . . . i like red and i like black i just think the kit is badly designed with all those weirdly placed squares and the red is too dark imo

reminds me last year's shack kit which i didn't like either, yet i loved this years shack kit

I don't like their kit either.

That's why Phil needs to become World champ next year :( (I don't like his Belgian jersey as well xD)

Yeah, it's a bit sad how they just showed all their American "talents" the door in favour of international superstars... Manchester City ain't got nuthin' on them.

"Their"? They're mostly keen on developing Swiss talent and signing Swiss cyclists. There's still a fair amount of useless Swiss cyclists in their team. They tried to sign Cancellara, but he didn't want to ride for them. So the only decent Swiss they don't got is Zaugg.

Ah, that's why their new continental team is 90% American

And the majority of their young riders were Americans (4 of them leaving after this season).

Agreed. Now for a great red and black kit, try Lotto's from a while ago. Their 1994 one was plain and simple, but years later they got a new one, with square-like things, and it worked.

Because he wants to sell his bikes in America. But his real goal is to develop Swiss talent, he's even building a Velodrome somewhere in Swiss and wants to be part in developing talent that will one day win the Tour(his words).

His real goal is to develop good Swiss cyclists.
