Hmm, there should be some major shuffling of cobbled/flat classic type guys. The OmegaPharma Lotto split will involve a lot of Belgian riders. Boonen needs a change. Pozzato will certainly be transferring. I don’t think Garmin is a good fit for Haussler so they might let him move. Cancellara should be recruiting some decent help to at least make sure he has water in a race. If Ballan is allowed to ride then I don’t think he’ll want to stay with the team that’s benched him so much.
So much of the transferring will be positioning for licensing and because of sponsorship issues. That will overshadow all sporting reasons for a lot of teams.

hm,

I don't know if Ballan's been benched that much by BMC, or rather if BMC have had any choice, seeing as he's been under investigation by the Italian cops in the operation whose name I can't remember.

Cancellara could do with some stronger riders around him. The signings would have to abandon their own ambitions though, as Cancellara would always be their best option. I couldn't see Boonen doing that. Or Haussler really. Maybe it would suit Pozzato to be out of the spotlight for a while.

Actually, I don't know why Katusha put so much pressure on Pozzato as sole leader anyhow. They have a few strong classics riders there-other cards to play. Garvelo won P-R with Johan Vansummeren. Katusha only just bought Hoste, Gusev, Kuschynski, and Paolini, and I never saw much of them or much criticism of them all season.

I don't think Cancellara needs to bring in any big-name riders. The budget must be pretty stretched there and they still have a big empty space on their jersey. Leopard just needs to look at the finishers list for P-R the last 2 years and find some young, eager guys who are capable of riding support.

I don't know what's going on at Katusha either. Of course they're frustrated with Pozzato but I think they're taking out other frustrations on him too. I'm sure other teams are interested though.

Is Van Summeren's contract up? One of the reformulated Belgian teams might be willing to give him a bit of a pay bump.

After the débâcle that was Pegasus, I would imagine any riders looking at signing for GreenEDGE, would be wanting some strong assurances that just before the year is out that they are suddenly having to look for a new team. I know I would be.

Rumors are a deal between Gilbert and Astana is already closed.

Don't know why, but i really don't want to see Gilbert in an Astana jersey :(

.

Boonen isn't a bad replacement but BMC's money would be better spent on getting a stage race this season.

Sauce? Or just rumours?

I'd liked to, but seems unlikely.

Belgian newspaper De Morgen speaks of "several anonymous sources" who confirm this rumour, but his manager is strongly denying...

I read (in Procycling I think) that one of the reasons Gilbert left FdJ was that he didn't like Remy Di Gregorio. Gilbert otherwise seems a popular guy, so it seems strange that with the choice of almost all Pro-tour teams - he should choose one containing a guy he dislikes.

I guess maybe Di Gregorio will be moving on - or perhaps Gilbert isn't so bothered now he would obviously be the preferred rider?

Matt Lloyd to BMC? Can anybody confirm....

It does make sense

Whether Lloyd will join GreenEdge sooner or later, it's unknown yet but the 27-year-old was full of praise for Shayne Bannan's initiative to create an Australian super team. "This project looks fantastic," Lloyd commented. "In a couple of years down the track, I'd like to be involved in a project like that. The younger generation of Australian cyclists has a depth but they'll need some experience as well."

bet he signs for the rest of this year rides the tour and Vuelta and 2012 with BMC

I doubt he would be in a Tour squad. They would at least want him doing a warm up race, so we will know by the confirmation of the TdS teams.

Will probably do a few smaller races and then the Vuelta for whoever he signs.

It kinda makes sense. Even though he had some interesting things to say about Evans, he was refreshingly honest. But he and Evans supposedly got on well together at Lotto. I think it would be good for both of them. And BMC would have someone that can actually win stages and mountain points jerseys in grand tours !

I mean neither of them are winners or are even fast. and are no topclimbers either. they need to be incredibly lucky to win.

Still 4 possibilities left for Gilbert: Astana, BMC, Quickstep & Sky. He won't totally exclude Lotto & Omega Pharma, but assumes they won't have the money.
For the other 4 teams, the money won't matter in his decision, only the sportive possibilities & plans.

Lefevre asked Boonen to decide before the Belgian Championships (June 26) whether he'll stay with QS or not.
