And this comment is relevant to the thread how? Why do you feel the need to have a go at people, you little man?

Do find it strange what people get worked up about on here (him not you). OK so he may be doing it to wind you up a little but really, why does it matter who supports them and why. when they started and why they started.

have to say not totally sure if him signing makes me happy, but that is more tall poppy syndrome and not really liking it when one team starts to look like it may dominate too much.

Bet Evans hopes there is a TTT in the Tour next year. How things have changed for him since 2009 at Lotto. Potential BMC TTT starting nine:

Evans
Hushovd
Gilbert
TJVG
Pinoti
Bookwalter
Hincapi
Phinney
Burghart

I relise that I have probably forgotten someone obvious and that this list would not be a very balanced squad for the Tour, but man, that is one impressive line up.

I am also making a few assumptions regarding the signing of TJVG and Pinoti.

Hushovd not going to the tour 2012, already confirmed. So you can cross him off the list..

That is a wrong rumour.

That is from his official twitter page, pretty strange that nobody got to see this

CadelOfficial Cadel Evans
Checking the news..... I so want Thor #godofthunder on our Tour team next year.... Why do people say otherwise?

I did read that BMC are keen to keep the same squad together for next years tour, but how could you leave some of the new signings off the team? If Gilbert and Hushovd want to ride the tour, I think they will ride the Tour. And Gilbert said today that he is looking forward to winning an early satge in his home territory then helping Evans defend his title.

don't have anything to add to the argument, just wanted to say - awesome nickname :)

I don't like the news about Gilbert at BMC. It seems like cycling Galacticos. Hopefully, they will win as much as Real Madrid did in recent years [though I actually like most of the riders of BMC, just don't like such super-strong teams in any sport]

Maybe I am actually Patterson? No, obviously not.

I think I'm fairly lucky in the fact that I don't really support anyone, I just like to see a good bike race.

Pinotti will make his decision public in September... TJVG hasn't signed anywhere yet?

Does anyone have any news on what Porte is doing next season? I thought he was off contract and may be signing with a new team. Haven't heard much on him lately.

Cause in Lotto not everything that could be done to help Evans was done, and Evans had to ride 'lesser' races too cause in contrary to BMC, Lotto couldnt always afford just focusing on one single race. Didnt you notice before? Also note ACF's extreme hate for JvDB cause he didnt 100% domestique for him.
I think the difference between Lotto and BMC for Evans is psychological. He feels that everyone is behind him at BMC, even if half the team gets dropped on every 1st cat. At Lotto he maybe felt that VDB was closing in on him, and that the sponsors wanted him to fail so they could ride for the Belgian. Remember how Evans rode his ar*e off last season in the "lesser" spring races to get BMC invites.

It's vaguely reminiscent of Lotto, two years ago.

Evans talks about being a domestique for Gilbert in the classics... which seems logical, but I think he could be one of the few riders who could actually pose some sort of threat to Phil. Too bad.
Yeah, it kinda sucks. Would like to see them on different teams (actually, I'd like to see Gilbert ride solo).

Guess I'm cheering for Valverde and Rebellin.

Fair play to Gilbert and BMC. BMC have got the best all round rider in the world at the moment (in my opinion) and Gilbert is going to be earning a packet. However, I don't like to see te best riders loaded onto a select few teams. Evans vs Gilbert in the Ardennes is a great battle but it won't be from now on. It's the same with Radioshack having all their GC contenders.

Peronsally I want to see the best riders race against the best riders. Not race for the same team.

The overiding motivation for Gilbert signing for BMC must be money.

I'd be interested to see how happy he is if he's told to hang back in LBL next year if Evans is up the road.

This sucks.

Evans won't contend the classics. Gilbert will ride the Tour as a domestique (next year's WC suits him, so under normal circumstances I would expect him to skip the Tour and focus on the Vuelta and the fall classics - and if he did the Tour, he'd animate it big time on his own). The fans lose big time.

and this!

i kept on hoping he would go to Astana and do more Vino-like attacking... sigh... how dull it will now be...

yeah but the Tour starts in Liege next year, the region he grew up in, so i'm guessing he would want to start there

I was hoping Gilbert would go to GreenEdge where he could have done whatever he wanted to in TDF. Gilbert as a domestique is a loss for the sport. Also, Gilbert was already dominant enough in the ardennes and now he will have one of his strongest competitors as a domestique there, will be way too easy for him...
