Yeah...Gesink just turned pro a couple of months before that. You might as well argue that Dekker was a better climber than Andy Schleck as well (and so is Sylvester Szmyd).

I used to be a big fan of Dekker, but he was never a better climber than Gesink, and never will be.

indeed.

It is one thing to dominate the espoirs, but Gesink as a pro quickly established himself as a cimber whereas dekker looked more like an all rounder.

@Ryo.
Morgins right?
Roughly 6.5% average.
Pick something steeper and when Gesink wasn't just starting his professional career to compare please :)

like hrotha said logic (just look at how the two developed post-rabo-cont) supports gesink as a better climber.

dont get me wrong I like dekker, think he is a very talented rider still, I just think Gesink is the better climber in the mountains.

So, Boonen still at Quickstep rules them out of Gilbert.

Looks like it's down to BMC and Omega Pharma now?

I don't think it rules out QS at all. Gilbert and Boonen have different objectives 95% of the season, only overlapping at de Ronde really. Could easily see Gilbert go there.

When even Gilbert's manager say QS is in the running(and Lefevre always wanted to keep Boonen) why do you still dismiss it as lying?

Next year they have the money. Quick Step will have a budget of 15 mil euro the next 4 years.

You guys know a Czech billionaire owns Quickstep's management company? It even says in the CN story on Boonen resigning. Sure they have the money for Gilbert.

QST vs Omega vs Sky vs BMC? Or are Sky out of it due to Cav coming.

I don't really like the resigning. I believed a chance of environment would be good for Boonen...

Perhaps with Gilbert in it, it will have a positive effect on him.

Good. Now we won't have to hear anymore from Lefevere that his team underperforms because they're so poor.

we will see, lefevere doesn't have a trackrecord working for him

Apart from the super team he built at Mapei, including stealing VDB from Lotto?

Never mind the fact that Tom Boonen and Paolo Bettini worked together perfectly

So who do they call the new Bettini these days?

mapei was past century and vdb was already in big demise when he left to quickstep, he didn't cost much
