its on the rabosite aswell.. Pieter Weening leaves at the end of the season.. unknown to which team as of yet

Breukink just confirmed this on Dutch tv's evening Tour program - Weening is to announce his departure in a northern Dutch paper in the next few days - bit of a shock, as Pieter has been with Rabo since forever. The guests around the table were invited to take at a stab at where he might be going, and came up with - 'Australia', Liquigas, Quickstep, and 'staying in Holland'.....

....which would be a pretty stunning coup for Vacancesoleil!

A stunning coup would be to sign Robert Gesink. Weening is a guy who could barely get a contract last year, so Rabo decided to give him another chance, for just one year.

didn't fid it that surprising. Wasn't he last year ****ed at the team after the dutch national road race, and this year again? I wonder if he expected to ride the TdF this year, and was disappointed.

Maybe I should have made it clear that I found the news surprising because to me, Weening is synonymous with the Rabo team - kind of like hearing that Giggs is leaving ManU:p

I think that the last two Dutch national road races have been collective embarrassments for the Rabos.;)

With all due respect Weening isn't what I would call the pillar of the team and I'm sure there is enough talent to replace him at Rabo. At least he has won a stage at the Giro and lead the race for a few days which should help him get some decent coin on whatever team he will be riding on, I don't think he will be riding on a Pro Conti team on chump change next year.

I'll say he will go to Vacansoleil.

Saxo Bank is ready with more money if Bjarne Riis finds the right rider at this year's Tour. There is an option in the contract that provides Riis with additional funds, if he either finds a profile (Contador replacement?) or someone that can strengthen the width of the team. According to the article, Riis has full control over who to sign as long as it meets one of the two criteria listed above.

If he has the financial backing then he should be able to find riders who want to join the team. Hushovd would be a good hire and we all noticed how quick Riis was to praise him the other day. It has to be tough hiring GC guys without knowing if Contador can ride next year.

We've talked about them before... In the Dutch media it's pretty much considered to be a fait accompli.

Anyway, there was a documentary shown on Dutch TV Monday about the period Dekker was suspended, and they showed that already in 2010 Dekker was doing tests and consulting with doctors from Garmin. They've had their eye on Dekker for a while now.

they also had their eyes on him when he was going to leave rao but went to lotto

Saxo Bank has incresed the amount of money they spend on the sponsorship significantly. In addition they confirm that they are ready to throw even more millions into the pile if Riis manages to attract some (additional) big profiles.

Riis says that he has specific riders targeted but its unsure if it will all fall in place (sounds like riders who have a contract for next year too)

Don't know the length of Tom's contract but Saxo could be the perfect team for him. He lacks confidence and trust from his current team (we saw that in his crash) No help in the first 20 kilometers. A popular guy who is underperforming. He doesn't have the speed anymore to be with the best and Haedo is a better sprinter than him. But a partnership with Nuyens in the classics could be quite enjoyable.

He has already shown his interest in the team: http://blog.tv2.dk/anders.krog.soerensen.tv2/entry401560.html (scroll a bit down)

He's already re-signed with Quick Step.

To bad tbh. I really think he could revive his career at SBS, although he would might need to pass the Tour.

Just rumor...Kenny van Hummel lijkt op weg naar een andere ploeg. Er is veel belangstelling voor de sprinter die veel punten heeft ook van Vacansoleil.

Especially given that ingsve's location is Sweden, and all of the languages I used (save for French, which is pretty well known anyway especially for us as cycling fans) are Germanic (English, Dutch, German, Danish/Norwegian)
