Henderson and Sutton now to GreenEDGE? According to WielerFlits

that one has been up on tsf for two weeks. Catch up. :p

I would guess that Sky feel that Ben Swift and Davide Appollonio are ready to step up and take over the reigns.

Where? :p

EBH, Swift, Apollo, Rowe, Cav + entourage, won't be any lack of sprint options there.

Why do Sky have so many sprinters?

Do they need EBH, Swift, Appolonio & Cavendish.

Yeah give some to BMC. To be fair this will allow EBH to have a more versatile role bit still go.for the more difficult sprints if Cav does go to SKY they will need guys for for smaller races but I do agree they won't be short especially because I think Swift and Appolonio really will come on.

I think so too, which is troublesome, pegasus all over again?

Math Goss is going to Greenedge.

Big names don't like to tell yet to what team they'll go to. Small fish like Weening, Langeveld and Sutton don't mind that because they need some attention I suppose.

goss, is a good one, how many points will he bring in?

Is he including the other pretty much certainties enough to get them the pro-tour licence? Greenedge does seem to be a lot more realistic than Pegasus bluff and bravado but I would still of thought some people would still be unsure of commiting after seen what happened last year and that's not just because they are both Aussie projects.

207 UCI points and some continental points as well.

Robbie Mcewen is another "big" name for Greenedge, he's leaving RS.

well we already know pretty much about langeveld, weening, sutton and henderson so why not a big name?

Weening rumour is a bet out there?

Expecting to hear big signings in July, before the transfer season even starts, 6 months before the next season even begins is frankly, ludicrous hyberbole. Wondering that they're turning into another Pegasus already....well perhaps you should go be a reporter for ESPN...

If you're talking points for the team strength ranking then that is impossible to know before the year is over since it's points given for how they place in a special extended World Tour ranking ranking that also includes continental riders and a special extended continental ranking that also includes the WT riders. If he finishes in the top 10 of the extended WT ranking he gets 100 points (which is a possibility) and if he finishes 11th-20th he gets 65 points (a little more likely).

He has already secured some extra points for his wins though, regardless of what points he gets for his ranking. MSR is worth 20 points and his stages in TDU and P-N are worth 5 points each. (Those 30 points is equivalent to the extra points for winning the Giro.)

Simon Gerrans is off contract with Sky at season's end? Surely he would be another that is off to Greenedge.

Gerrans is rumoured to greenedge and has been for a while but I think sky may be keen to keep him.

I'm not sure why Sky would be keen to keep him, he may be a solid domestique but I got the impression that more was expected of him and he hasn't really delivered.

Ya, I was thinking the same thing. Though he is one of few options they have for the Ardennes so they would most likely need to replace that role if he were to leave.

3rd at Amstel this year is the only top 10 in the Ardennes that Gerrans has managed while at Sky. Outside of that he had a couple of podiums at the Vuelta a Andalucia last year and 3rd at the Aussie nats RR this year. Not exactly setting the world alight. Now that Sky have Uran for the Ardennes and EBH developing in that direction too I'm not sure Gerrans really has a place in the squad as anything except a bottle carrier and break chaser, so if Greenedge offer him a leadership role he will jump at it.

Gerrans has openly said that he wants to stay at Sky. He said that Greenedge was an interesting opportunity but felt comfortable and happy at Sky.

On Greenedge, Mike Mckay (Greenedge CEO) said on local radio that they would announce riders who have signed straight away. Also they would mostly have classics and sprinter type riders.

I would agree with this and i think the feeling is mutual.

What has become clear this season at sky is there are a group of riders that have a very good teamspirit, and are popular within the team.

Not saying in any way that Henderson and Sutton arent popular, but Gerrans certainly seems popular amongst the other riders.

The Dauphine and Tour squads seem to bear this out to a certain extent. The nine riders at the tour, arent just the best for the job, they are also the nine that seem to have developed a really strong bond together. (there other others in that catagory as well, but obviously they couldnt all go).

Not so much a clicque, but there are probably 12-15 sky riders that have formed very strong friendships whilst there are other riders that seem more on the fringes of the "club". I would include Gerrans in that group. Interesting as well how quickly Christian Knees has fallen into that group as well. Hes always been considered a "nice guy" and he seems to have very quickly found his place. When you are spending long periods on the road together, that freindship and team spirit is very important.

Dim, that sounds exactly like a clique! Gerrans seems to be that type of person. Can't say I like that type of thing.

Are you surprised that Blythe is going to BMC and not Sky?
