The key word is team - same at the tour 9 riders one team - So hopefully they ride for team goals and plan a,b,c,d,- which BMC seem to.

Tor did say help others win and I think thats what got to him was the let us see what happens on the day rather than.............

Certainly the 3 headed approach Garmin had at Milan San Remo and the result at Paris Roubaix weren't good for Thor.

If Gilbert does come over, the approach at San Remo would be similar, but Thor doesn't care about that. If he gets sole leadership at Paris Roubaix and the other 8 working for him, I imagine he'll be happy.

To be honest, Greg was lucky getting the level of feature he did in his first year with Sky, and once they knew they were moving on from him its not surprising he drops down the list of starters.

I'd struggle to put him in the top 25 sprinters in the world, so he really can't be that upset at not getting to name his schedule.

I'm guessing he sees himself as a better sprinter than EBH and to some extent I'm sure he is but EBH is far more useful to the team since in a race like Eneco he has a shot at winning GC and at the Tour he can be much better help to a GC rider in the mountains and this means EBH is more likely to get the shots than Hendo is.

At Sky he's had two stage wins at Paris-Nice, wins at Tour of Cal, Tour of Britain, Eneco, I'm sure I'm missing some others, plus some very good prologue rides, other results (2nd on a Giro stage), and being last man on other stage wins.

He was a very good rider for them in year 1.

Yeah, he's done ok. He just comes across as a bit of misery/whinger, which is never a good thing in a 'team' atmosphere!

I know he was upset at missing le tour (twice) but he has had very good other opportunities. And has delivered.

Boasson may have many more strings to his bow, but I think his sprinting string is stronger than Greg's too.

Anyone really believe he could ever finish 2nd on the Champs Elysee?

Well, the Champs finish suits stronger sprinters so EBH would have an edge over Hendo there. I do think Hendo is probably better at positioning himself and generally navigating the sprint and I think his acceleration is a bit better than EBHs but EBH is definately stronger so it depends on the finish.

I fully agree. You win PR by making the race, not by wheelsucking. Last years Thor didn't try to make the race like Tomke and Fabian do.

You're right about last year. But this year, Thor played his cards exactly right until his team crunched the numbers and pulled his rank.

JvS won this year by being in the right place at the right time. There's no doubt that he earned his win and has all of the pedigree to lift the cobble. But he won because Cancellara refused to work from 40km out - not by making the race. There's no doubt that if they had bridged to the front group, there would have been a different winner, in all likelihood Hushovt.

But you forget that Cancellara attacked to try to get up to JvS, and Hushovd couldn't handle it. Thor was supposed to follow Cancellara's last attack, and if he made it to JvS, he would outsprint him, but he couldn't follow the Canc.

No later than the Fleche Wallone.... "Gilbert leads Evans out of the Mur, and oh no, I don't believe my eyes Gilbert beats Evans by 20 bike lengths...."

Unless of course Evans will want to only concentrate on GTs from here on, which I think would be a terrible idea for him.

It really makes no sense from Hushovd's point of view, IMO. He reckons the problem at Garmin was that there were too many leaders and things weren't clear enough from the get go, so he didn't get the support he feels he deserved. To fix that, he moves to BMC, where the problem might be even worse. Unless all he cares about is Roubaix? That might be it, he's not getting any younger and BMC will probably ride for him there.
