I thought Martin would reveal his new team before the start of the vuelta:confused:

I heard he was afraid that HTC would leave anyone off that is going to another team next year.

Why would HTC do that, it woule be totally uncalled for to treat s loyal servant like that. Maybe hes joining a team thats deliberately delaying the announcement maybe like Greenedge who are staggering there's or if he was joining the same team ad Cav for instance. I thought the talk was to Quickstep-OP.

You are very tedious.

Apart from the above, I also saw Thor beat Eddy using a 2 on 1 breakaway, which clearly demonstrates his bunch sprint superiority...

My post said I would back them. It didn't say it was certain. The evidence is pretty clear that both Goss & EBH are faster sprinters than Thor nowadays. Thor clinging on on hillocks whilst wearing Yellow is neither here nor there. In a breakaway stage he managed to survive better by pacing himself properly, which is creditable, but equally EBH managed to drop several good climbers on a later stage.

To bring this back to the original point, I don't believe any team trying to turn MSR in to a bunch sprint will be terrified of Thor Hushovd. Maybe you know better.

You are very tedious if you think Thor is not very dangerous in a Milan-San Remo sprint. On a flat sprint, after a hill, Hushovd beat the crap out of EBH(Tour). And since when is a 2 on 1 not allowed? Have you looked at how strong BMC is next year? It will be a 8 on 1 then(the whole freaking point of this discussion mind you, perhaps you didn't pay any attention)!

And the harder the stages were, EBH got dropped, but Hushovd survived. So yeah, if the race is made hard enough EBH can definitely lose more energy than Thor thus be even weaker in the final sprint. There are not a lot of teams next year that will be willing to pull back Greg van Avermeat just to have Gilbert attack the second they catch him ;) And if they bring Phil back after that attack they'll have to deal with Thor in a sprint after they destroyed their team in getting back Phil, GVA and other attackers. So Hushovd will be able to count on a decent lead out increasing his chances of winning even more.

I hope that Kristoff is not treated like Pozzato by A_T. I also would hate for Martin to go to QS and be assigned leadership roles over Peter Velits. Velits is a better climber and is good at ITT's as well. He can go great at GT's and should be able to win one week stage races.

Movistar tweet that they have secured the signatures of the Caja Rural duo Javier Moreno Bazán and José Herrada for the next two seasons.

These look like some pretty solid signings.

The 27-year-old Moreno has just come off his most successful season, with a handful of top 10 places in hilly Spanish one-day races like the GP Miguel Induráin, but also has been highly visible throughout April and May, with an impressive 2nd in the Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid, after finishing 3rd in the climactic stage to the Puerto de la Morcuera, following on from his spectacular win in the Vuelta a Asturias, where he won the queen stage to the Alto del Acebo with a brilliantly judged climbing assault, before holding on against the multiple attacks of Tino Zaballa in the climactic stage to Monte Naranco, eventually gifting him the win at the summit.

José Herrada was Moreno's right hand man in those races, pulling back breaks, doing a huge amount of pacing and really gluing the race together for Moreno. He has some good results in the same races (Madrid and Asturias, where he has been in the top 10 for the last three years), as well as winning a stage of last year's Volta a Portugal and impressing on his way to 4th at the Route du Sud. The top 20 of the Vuelta al País Vasco is nothing to be sniffed at either for the 25-year-old Castilian. Of course, it certainly doesn't hurt that his younger brother Jesús is currently on the Movistar squad.

Wow, that's great news. Really like these two. They seem to be quite underrated so great to know they'll get to show themselves off at a bigger team next year.

I remember Moreno was surprisingly strong in San Sebastian last year, probably his best achievement to date. His Vuelta was quite underwhelming though.

i guess these 2 guys leaving was the reason why caja rural wanted to sign broco and cardoso so badly

Yea, I was thinking that Broco and Cardoso on top of the two now Movistar-bound riders would make for a strong Vuelta squad, guess we now know why they were so keen on the Portuguese duo. I'd also like to see them bring Gustavo César Veloso and David Herrero Llorente back in from the cold - both still have several years left in them and it seems crazy that they're without teams given their histories and palmarès.

Not surprised that Moreno has gone to Movistar, I thought that he will get offers to move up to a WT team after his ride at Asturias this year. I agree with Libertine aboute Herrero and Veloso, and wage wise, they are a good deal.

They're in the WorldTour and no doubt still will be there next year so their attendance will be compulsory at all WorldTour races.

I can't see how signing for Sky is better for his development as a GC rider over staying at Saxo, regardless of whether Conti's racing or not. But maybe a big bag of money helps.

He heard a rumour that if you can time trial and get a one off highish finish in a grand tour they will make you team leader for the next 3 years.
