But wasn't that in 2010 (when Askari won the Tour of Qinghai Lake, he sprayed champagne on the podium - he didn't even drink it as far as i know)? Why would they only pull out now if it were such an important matter?
Of course, the sponsor contract may have run until 2011, but that never stopped T-Mobile, Saunier Duval etc. from stopping early.

Iran cycling seems to be pretty conservative while probably Rebellin tried to get them involved for an european project.
This is just my guess.

I don't think they reported what period of time the back taxes were in respect of. Bearing in mind Italy's tax system taxes at an extremely high rate and on everything an anything he may not have been on as much as one might imagine. Hopefully the Guardia Finanzia will clean him out.

Just did a quick search and found an article from a local newspaper reporting dates from 2002 and 2007, reporting also his income for each year during that period.

Malasyan sprinter Anuar Manuan to Champion System.
It will be interesting to see how he can cope with european races (if they do get invitations).

That's great timing for him to get a ride for next year. I'm thinking Gianetti must be ready to announce a new sponsor otherwise Cobo and Menchov would have left by now.

Nice that a young talent like Brändle gets a new chance, but just absurd that the team seems to primaraly have hired him due to his fast sprint

But maybe he will do "a Kittel"...

Hopefully he will get to ride some stageraces too.

If Contador gets banned they'll even be a crappy Pro Conti team lol.

Bolded names are somewhat decent...

Perhaps mentally for Contador(Hernandez), but they don't do much real help for someone who won 6 Grand Tours.

pires is actually a pretty decent mountain domestic, he didn't have a chance to show it at the giro but he did top 20 at the dauphine and top 10'd the us pro cycling challenge or w/e the name of that race was, so he is nothing out of this world but a decent mountain domestic nonetheless

he will prolly make it to the tour squad which should look something like:

contador
navarro
cas
paulinho
pires
hernandez
nicky sorensen
tossato
and then either nuyens, haedo or majka

Money must be seriously tight, because it's otherwise inexplicable that they didn't bring in a halfway decent GC rider and a reasonably high class climbing domestique.

Whether Contador gets banned or not, two riders of that ilk would be a lot of use to them, eitehr supporting Alberto and/or leading whatever races he isn't riding. Riis has never struck me as a stupid or a complacent man, so I have to assume that he hasn't strengthened the team because he can't.

ya riis must be on a very tight budget, i think the fact that the contador case didn't got solved in june hurt him a lot, had contador been cleared in june he would be able to easily find a second sponsor this way he didn't found one and even lost his second sponsor, now even if contador gets cleared and he finds the money he won't be able to strength his team for next season as there are no decent riders available anymore, but like i said before on another thread, it wouldn't surprise me if specialized jumped as naming sponsor of the team if contador gets cleared as their main rivals in the us market( cervelo, trek and bmc) are naming sponsors already

riis never finds sponsors.this is such a myth even with cancellara and shclecks on his team he had no money and almost no sponsors

That's why he just found a new sponsor

And I'm sure Contador rides pro bono for good old Riis.

Looks like Carlstrom will be retiring.

Sky have asked him for his bikes back (this actually happened about ten days ago but i forgot to post it)

It always infuriates me when teams ask for the bikes back, especially from the domestiques, the teams are hardly paying for the bikes as it is all sponsored. Riders should get to keep a minimum of 2 of their team bikes.

That is because Cancellara and the Schlecks obviously aren't interesting for sponsors. Their new team couldn't find one either after all. So maybe we can't blame that one on Riis.
