Do they really need him ?

I mean Bonnen could easily do the job for Cav at the Tour nd as he shown he can still sprint quite well ( beat Greipel few times this year etc. )

I can not see Boonen reacting well to being made to lead out Cav.
That is considering he will do the Tour as well, it will indeed be interesting to see what Boonen does do. Tour team will be based around Cav, Boonen I doubt will want to waste the Tour being placed under such restraints.

Yet the Giro probably does not suit him as it is too close yet too far in terms of his cobbles peak, what does he go for after the Classics then? The worlds do not really seem an option, so it will be interesting to see.

Personally Steegmans seems the best option as leadout man for Cav, though Fenn may also be utilised. Both Fenn and Trentin though have enormous potential themselves though particularly in the classics so it will be shame if they are limited in those areas by Cav. Trentin in MSR this year was particularly impressive (crashed in the final sprint) and yet he may not be able to repeat such a perfomance next year if he is towing Cav around, Eisel style..

boonen doesn't really care about the tour , as long as cav doesn't get in his way for the classics he will be happy doing whatever the team asks him to do at the tour.

as long as you aren't expecting boonen to lead out cav in MSR and GW it should be fine, and it's not like cav can make it to the finish in either of those races as 2009 is long gone so . . .

Actually at GW he made the split over the last climb of the day in the peleton, but then very unluckily missed the split on the dowhnill.

He can make the GW. MSR depends on how the race is raced obviosuly, they have two cards to play with Boonen / Cav plus Chavanel and Terpstra are another riders that can do real damage as well.

Di Luca still talking to Farnese Vini (the deal would include Acqua&Sapone as added sponsor) but also the ex Landbwoukredit.

Actually the Farnese Vini's rumor sounds bit strange as Scinto some weeks ago said he doesn't want Di Luca in his team; but perhaps the euros shown by Acqua&Sapone might have helped to change idea.;)

Di Luca at Farnese Vini would make it a strong team. Would anybody else from Acqua&Sapone be joining?

In other races, Fenn / Trentin should prove more than enough to be his lead - out imo.

I guess they need classy punchy rider / climber than a lead-out to make their roster more all-round.

boonen won't be in his train in any race I assume.

talent? the guy rode with zalf. you can't say anything about talent from those riders a sit's left better to say in the clinic. but we will find out what he's made of (clean) now

Bongiornos best U23 years (=2010 and 2012) however were with Futura (2010) and Hopplà (2012), not Zalf. He rode with them only in 2011 and had a pretty modest year there (overshadowed by Battaglin and Agostini).

Zalf lost it's dominant position in the Italian amateur scene already back in 2010. They are cleaner nowadays (or other teams closed the gap...) and a more sprinter-oriented team.

I agree that italian amateur cycling in general has cleaned up, but I'm always wary before they turn pro, guys like nibali and moser started with very clean teams in italy

Louletano-Dunas Douradas (new portuguese continental Team) signs Sérgio Ribeiro, one of the most convented riders in Portugal.

Louletano is a sports club, they have a amateur cycling team last two years and their main team is the soccer team (third level of the Portuguese football). I have friends playing soccer and I hear they are not good payer, so I'm suprised they signs Sérgio Ribeiro.

There was also quite some talk about them not paying their riders last time they were involved ina team?

I think this transfer can only mean one thing: Sérgio wants the Volta :D

Even as amateur team Loulé-Louletano had a quite decent squad with Jorge Montenegro, Antonio Olmo, Michael Isidoro, Victor Valinho, Celestino Pinho and Rui Vinhas. At least Montenegro surely had some kind of semi-professional contract/payment.

If they can keep those riders and add Ribeiro it'a a good conti team.
