No sad faces. Why shouldn't it be Riis?

Contracts with a new team are not allowed to be published until August but if a rider continues within the same team the deal can be published before that.

However CAS didn't say that he can't or won't say with which team he has signed. Just that he would like it to be up to the team to choose when the deal should be published. I guess it could make sense for Riis not to have his deals published now if he still need to make a few signings.

During the TdF CAS and Brian Holm confirmed that there had been negotiations with him and OPQS. CAS said he had talked to two other teams as well, besides SBTB. For CAS's sake I hope that he goes to OPQS. It seems well organized and he would probably be getting more freedom there to pursue the long range mountain attacks which really seems to suit him.

Considering how how much Riis complimented CAS today, I think it's a fair assumption that he stays on the team.

Why would they want Coppel? Or is Saxo the new Quickstep and is everyone going there?

Contador used to ride a lot of races to win and not to train and the russian partner seems impressed about Sky and wants to replicate the same on his team.

Saxo building a decent squad. Surprised if Roche moves, from joint leader to Tour domestique. Still, money talks. May get more freedom in La Vuelta perhaps.

Free role to be 13th or 16th and understand you can't get a better position happens to many riders and look for a big team to make money, of course as domestiques of a big star.

Sky states that they want to strengthen their classic teams. So IF RSNT collapses I could see them signing Spartacus. Also that would make them unreal in a TTT

Canc, Wiggo, Rogers, Porte, Froome, EBH, Cav. Sod the mountains, Sky would have an insurmountable gap by the end of the TTT. Probably eliminate every other team on the the timelimit :D

If that happened you will never see a TTT in the tour again. Its the Gewiss Balan rule, if you are so dominant it kills the action, they take it out. Cancellara ran into that rule a coupple of times regarding prologs.

They may already be so TT strong, that from tdf 2014 it will take a long time, before you see another TTT

The question is also why would Coppel want to go there? He can be a leader on any French team instead of being about, uh, 4th in line at STB.

He probably realized he's not good enough to win a GT. Why not cash in?

I have my doubts that Riis will use his newfound wealth BMC style. So it's unlikely that Coppel would get that much more money in exchange for probably giving up any ambitions except for races ala Bayern Rundfahrt, Etoile de Besseges etc.

I think Coppel looked decent and could have challenged for top 10, but then he got sick and completely dropped off. He's also a rider a lot like Kreuziger however. Seems unlikely that both will join.

Coppel should go to Sky and fit in with their train of ITT riders who are strong on climbs.

Though he does have flair so i would prefer for that not to happen.

He'd probably be on a bigger contract as a super domestique at Saxo Tinkoff, compared to as a leader at Saur or Cofidis.

french are generally quite generous to their riders with potential, so I doubt it would be much of a difference really.

CAS, Kreuziger, Coppel, Roche....

This is starting to look like decent support Contador. :)

Maybe Riis was jealous of the Sky train?

The Sky train is there because it suits the type of rider Wiggins is: ride a steady tempo throughout the stage, make it one long time trial. Contador doesn't need that. He won the Giro basically on his own.

(oh wait, Richie Porte was there, but unlike his renewed Sky self, he was nowhere to be seen)

I think the main recruiting issue for Riis isn't getting direct support for Contador but rather riders who can compete and help shoulder the teams responsibilities, a rider like Kreuziger could well find himself with many opportunities including the Giro.
