It has been rumoured on a portuguese blog that Rui Costa already has a pre-deal with a WT other then Movistar.

I won't be putting much credibility to it as Costa always said he would prioritize staying at Movistar but if true who could that team be? Someone with money and in need of some serious points would be the best fit.

Saxo, Cannondale, Blanco :)o), Lotto, The Shack ?

I would be glad to see him in Saxo. Unlike roche he can actually win races.

Saxo would be a very good fit for him IMO, the Shack would be...interesting. Cannondale also I don't think would be too bad a team for him (although there might be some conflict at the ardennes with Moser).

I wouldn't mind seeing him at Saxo. But i think i would prefer to see him staying at Movistar for now and maybe lead the team with Quintana and Intxausti once Valverde retired.

The thing is, does Movistar have the money to pay both him and Quintana to stay in the team? Considering both will have a big amount of points and pretty much guarantee results all season long and Valverde will never leave, it may be a bit too much for their budget as plenty of teams will be willing to throw big money at them, >1 mil per year contracts most likely.

He will most likely be 3rd captain at Saxo behind Contador and Kreuziger. IMO he should stay where he is. Saxo could really use the points though...

Depends on how the rest of this season goes for each of them, particularly in Suisse, the Tour, the worlds and Lombardy.

I would say that if Costa manages to beat Kreuziguer this week and Kreuziguer doesn't manage to pull something special over the rest of the season, Costa would be second behind Contador.

Bradley Wiggins
Rigoberto Uran Uran
Xabier Zandio
Luke Rowe
Salvatore Puccio
Danny Pate
Christopher Sutton
Mathew Hayman
Ian Stannard
Christian Knees
Gabriel Rasch
Sergio Louis Henao

Sky riders not confirmed for 2014

Zandio stated after the Giro that he was all but confirmed to be staying with Sky for at least one, most likely two, more years.

Uran, Sutton, Hayman and Rasch would be the most likely to leave I'd have thought. Then you've got the Stannard rumours and the Wiggins dilemma.

Kreuziger is already improving and he´s one Riis wanted to sign already years ago. I would say Riis sees him as his new protegé.

But AC would probably love to have Costa on the team, so its not unlikely he could go to Saxo.

What about Canc? He was having a conversation with Kreuziger during the stage, and on the Saxo forum a guy says his friend had seen them having a long talk pre start of the stage as well, it don´t have to mean anything, but in these contract times, you can´t ignore it either.

What are the rumours about Stannard or are they not to be discussed here?

Cancellara is being reported as staying with the new Trek team being setup.

I think it was on Brian Smith's twitter feed in early-February which mentioned:
- Ian Stannard leaving Sky
- Henao now staying and will lead Vuelta.
- Wiggins didn't put the work in and he's gone at the end of the year
- Contador's form is poor

The second of these appears true, and you could make a case for the third (the part about Wiggins not having put the work in) and fourth rumours being likewise. I've not seen a specific team mentioned though for Stannard.

Thanks for letting me know. Terrible news if true though! Good in the classics and has the engine to be on the front all day in the GTs, exactly what Sky need. Maybe he's fed up with the rest of the classics team being so poor!

He was pretty poor himself in every classic that didn't include a snow storm. His performance in RVV and particularly P-R was disappointing, to say the least.

He's no team leader, and you shouldn't expect him to perform at a high level as he doesn't get paid for that, unlike a certain Norwegian. ;)

That may well be true. Stannard really fancies his chances as a Classics rider and whilst Sky out much more focus on these races this year, it'll be lower in their list of priorities than GT's for years to come. I couldn't blame him for going to another team where he could focus on them much more.

His whole training was for the classics so think they gave enough focus to them but it could have been the stupid decision to train in Tenerife that he's aggrieved with. Maybe he wants a team that trains on cobbled roads for cobbled races! Also Sky didn't work well as a team at all in the classics so maybe they didn't get on with each other.

If I was a sky man (and I'm not) some of the riders I'd be looking at would be Cameron Meyer, Alexander Kristoff and Greg Van Avermaet. I also like Andriy Grivko also.

Meyer looks like developing into a good TT rider, Kristoff a sprinter who could be thrown at the classics, Van Avermaet is not happy at BMC.

I would say van Avermat is the only realistic one. I belive Kristof and Meyer are pefectly happy at their current team. And I´m not sure van Avermat is intrested in moving to SKY either, but maybe the salary can play a part.

On twitter Basso is rumored to go to Astana; not so sure it would be a great deal for Astana.
