He can't handle the distance, or any sort of really hard race actually. All his results have come on slow approach-fast uphill type stages.

except that tirreno stage that was like 240 km? distance isn't his problem. he just sucks at placing himself in the classics.

he's not really a climber. he's a true puncher and monster in the hills. about as explosive as they come

He's a good climber though, won on Genting Highlands. He's got some kick in him (typical rider for the classics), but also good on long climbs.

The market is completely flooded with second and third tier GC riders and climbers. Must be some bargains to be had considering there's so many available:

Costa, Nieve, Anton, S. Sanchez, LL. Sanchez, Poels, De Gendt, Scarponi, Brajkovic, Monfort, Kloden, Horner, Frank, Landa, J. Moreno, Machado etc

lulu still has a contract till 2015

Rumor is that the agent of lulu has been working a lot for get his contract in place with the team, while they tried to get rid of him.

He's only good at finishes which are very very steep (from about 8% on). And there is another rider unbeatable on such finishes

Poels to either Garmin or Greenedge.

If it's Garmin, that team might consider taking a Dutch license. They're more Dutch than Argos.

As a greenedge fan and looking at their abilities and nationalities, would be aiming for de gendt, monfort, and poels.
Also on Greenedge, how good is Garmin's strike rate in finding and developing Aussie talent next to OGE?

I'd also have added Ion Izagirre to the list after the 2nd ITT at the tour and pologne.

With all these riders up for grabs it'll be interesting to see who is attractive to who. Loads of talent, but a number of these guys could be perceived to be on their way down.
Landa to Astana looks likely, I think a number of teams may wait on la vuelta to see how riders perform and then make an assessment about where they may fit in.

Rumours in Switzerland say that Mathias Frank has signed with IAM (no surprise) and that Sylvain Chavanel, Jérome Pineau and Kevin Hulsmans are also close to sign with the Swiss squad.

Rubén Plaza and Pablo Lastras will continue wearing the Movistar Team jersey in 2014 after extending their respective contracts with Eusebio Unzué's squad.

Chava to IAM? That's surprising. But he'll get to be race leader more often I guess and that's

And thanks to him they will get a wildcard for the Tour (if they aren't pro tour). A win-win situation.

Maybe they can offer a better salary than the French teams and he is probably worth a lot to that team because of his ValuePoints, with two teams closing down IAM has an excellent chance of gaining WT license, of cause we go from 19 back to 18 again i suppose, but still IAM would be the logical choice for a new WT team, unless Europcar apply for a license this year.

Inner Ring reported that there aren't any candidates to move up top WT this year. UCI has tried to persuade MTN and IAM but neither feels that they have the finance to support the move.

No need for IAM to get a WT license now, with only 17 WT teams next year there will be enough wildcards left in almost every race they want to compete in. Even TdF won't be much of a problem, 17 WT + 3 french ProConti = still 2 wildcards left.

But looks like they will already be WT worthy next year with men like Chava, Frank and Kloden.

Those are some good moves, especially Chavanel. IAM makes much more sense then Movistar. Wouldn't surprise me if IAM decided to go to worldtour just for the hell of it.
