I think he will go to Movistar.

Although there also is a rumour that Riis is close to landing a new sponsor to replace Tinkoff.

If Riis has got the cash and Contador still has any influence on that team, they surely owe Nieve a contract after Ventoux?

anyways, Movistar does seem like the logical destination for many of the top Euskaltel riders, but Valverde and Quintana could make it difficult for a rider like Sanchez to get a good race program.

Whats he going to do on Saxo?

There appear to be enough mountain support. Now the team needs to get something out of Contador for 2014. Thats the key issue.

Instead the team should be looking to beef up the cobbles group.

Giro, Vuelta, Classics and stage hunting, counter attacking 2nd leader at Tour...take your pick.

Poels to either Garmin or Greenedge.

If it's Garmin, that team might consider taking a Dutch license. They're more Dutch than Argos.

Both interesting possibilities. He'd have more opportunities to lead at Greenedge - in fact he'd presumably go right to the top of their very very short list of guys who lead when the road goes uphill. But I think he'd also fit well at Garmin, particularly as they have a lot of decent climbers who are retiring or getting old. I like Poels a lot and hope to see him progress at either team.

Presumably Garmin's existing Dutch "colony" make the team quite attractive to yet more Dutchies, so it becomes sort of self-perpetuating.

Actually, while on the subject of Poels, does anyone know why he doesn't seem to feature much at the hilly classics so far? On paper, I'd have thought he'd be very good there.

He can't handle the distance, or any sort of really hard race actually. All his results have come on slow approach-fast uphill type stages.

Ah, I hadn't realised that. Is there any chance that he'll get better at long/hard races as he gets a bit older? Or is he so bad at really hard stuff that no realistic improvement would be enough?

Even if he doesn't, there are plenty of stages like that in cycling I suppose (half of the Vuelta for instance).

The market is completely flooded with second and third tier GC riders and climbers. Must be some bargains to be had considering there's so many available:

Costa, Nieve, Anton, S. Sanchez, LL. Sanchez, Poels, De Gendt, Scarponi, Brajkovic, Monfort, Kloden, Horner, Frank, Landa, J. Moreno, Machado etc

I don't know, Vacansoleil doesn't strike me as the team with the best training for every circumstance, so maybe we'll see next year. He still seems quite immature as a rider (although he isn't that young).

Trek and AG2R really want to sign Julian David Arredondo.

Would be a great signing, spectaculair climber.

he's not really a climber. he's a true puncher and monster in the hills. about as explosive as they come

yet that's one of the main reasons why Bos has failed for years

the reason bos fails for so many years is because he's not a worthy wt rider. no entire team can help him get over climbs and place himself for a sprint. his placing is about the worst of any sprinter alive
